At what point do you say -- enough is enough..

...of drive/distortion/boost pedals? Not counting ones in my hardware modelers.
I'm doing a bit of organizing in my music space, and seems I have enough of these contraptions. Not sure.

What type pedals are you hoarding? :grin

I have maybe a half dozen in my drawer...thanks for posting this! I was feeling like I should do something about these pedals I'm not using, but I see my issues pale in comparison. :p

You're welcome! To be fair, it didn't all happen in a short time. :grin
The oldest above is the 3 knob tube driver I've had since '96. The TS9 is from 2002ish.
Although I've gotten rid of some pretty good ones about 5 yrs ago.

Still room for more fuzz though? :ROFLMAO:

i think i have six? not a lot... but over time ive had maybe fifteen. various shades of the same thing. i dont use fuzz so thats a kindness...

i like all of them for something, though few of them are so different i couldnt use em interchangably. i layed out all of mine a while back and the only one i hate is the timmy. everything else i was like.. okay.. that sounds like good overdrive. okay.. that sounds like good overdrive. okay.... THAT sounds like good overdrive.

at some point, its overdrive. if it feels good and it does the thing.. thats when enough is enough. i felt like i hit sounds and feels good with my two bogners.

I've moved on a load of stuff over the last few years. I've really only kept stuff that I'm currently using or is rare enough that I'd not find another one without paying too much.

The only thing I have multiples of are fuzz faces.

Surprisingly with my collection, there's not a ton of overlap except for the ones purposely overlapping. :grin
But even the TS9 has a certain sweetness that the MKIV Rhino is missing in stock mode. This is what I tell myself anyways haha.
I can certainly make quite a few do similar things, because they have clipping characteristics that feel close to each other.

I do regret selling off my original Bogner Red and Mesa V-twin pedals. A moment of weakness I suppose.

I sold my mesa v twin around 2010ish and I've regretted it ever since. I'd love another one but they go for crazy money now or at least people ask crazy money for them and they sit unsold for ages.
I've been back and forth on getting one again, but it's gotta be a no-brainer deal at this point. And not sure what I was thinking when I sold it... it was legitimately the best clean boost/flavor pedal I ever had. Gain tones were decent but not why I really loved it.

Generally speaking, I don't like/get on with pedal distortion all that much. :bonk

I am even in an OD lull at the moment, where every amp/amp model I use or try
just sounds and feels better to me without an OD pushing it.

Kind of smitten with basic amp/tube compression and drive. For now.

If I do have a weakness it is for Delay and Fuzz. :love:chef

Just seems the older I get the more simple and unadulterated I want things. For now.

I used mine to boost a jcm900, it sounded righteous. I miss the amp too tbh.

I get that. Amp gain is cool, and maybe it's why I'm more drawn to the tube gain pedals in general. I've just always been more of a clean base tone/pedal guy since I started. I've grown more into liking eob base tones though, and just taking it further with a pedal. Fuzz is a different beast entirely. It's that thing... and you can only get that thing from a pedal (or a vintage amp that's about to explode lol).
