My main problem with dirt pedals is by the time I set them up to work with my amp they all sound pretty much the same.

Also the classics are classic for a reason and it's been a long time since the dirt pedal du jour interested me.

I don’t know. I like to have a pool to choose from and switch things around every now and then. Even with quite a few that overlap quite a bit.

I also actually enjoy the process of putting my boards together.

I will never be done.

Having lots of drive pedals is like having a big box of crayons - the more you have the more colors you have to play with.

Sometimes you might just want a big fat purple crayon to color everything, other times you may want several softer colors to blend together.

Sometimes you want forrest green, other times you want an olive green, and other times a lime green works best.

I do love amp drive, but I also love pedals for drive because:
A) it’s much more practical to bring a board with 4 drives to a gig than to bring 5 amps
B) the noise floor is much lower
C) there are pedals that get sounds amps can’t make
D) it’s much easier to buy/sell pedals

What I’ve got currently (but more will come):

When you have more than one pedal board, and you have more dirt pedals that are extras not on boards than you do on the boards...well, it might be time to get another pedal board.

I do love the classics but they haven't been as much my go to these days. I guess the OD-3 could be considered a classic at this point and it really sounds unique to other drives. Same goes for the valvenergy drives. If I had to, I'd just keep them, a few fuzzes and the BKs and be fine.

How does actual Klon clones work with downtuned or seven stringed guitar? Keen on getting one but I get stuck if I need one with EQ controls to reduce bass or not.

I just have a Precision Drive and a Wampler Euphoria as ODs. I kinda want to be a just amp gain-kind of guy but I really like a boost in front on subtle settings.

My Tumnus Deluxe works very well actually. It does the tightening thing that a TS does, but you have control over whether it mid boosts or not, and it kinda saturates the pick attack a bit when you apply a tiny bit of drive, meaning you can get more harmonics from the amp. Works exceptionally well with my Rockerverb.

My friend brought one of their pedals. It stopped working one day. Opened it up. LED wasn't properly soldered to the switch. Put me right off :-/

I don't have experience with any Lichtlaerm overdrives, but I have their Key and the Gate noise gate, and it's absolutely awesome.

Maybe @Orvillain 's friend was unlucky and received a dud.


Maybe I just got lucky and received a "good one".


If you had an issue with one of their pedals, I'm sure they would make it right.
