Honestly ... are you being serious (?)
yep, absolutely serious - the profile sounds markedly different to my ears.

but even the guy in the room said it was basically the same

did he?

I dont think anyone here or anywhere else is kidding themselves that Tonex or NAM or QC.... etc.... blah

I wasn't talking about any other technologies in my previous comment, but I do like those better tbh as they sound better, are more accurate to the target gear, and all of them are more useful imo because of the fact there are variants of their technology(ies) in both software and hardware forms.

If you just don't like the Kemper or the company - perfectly fine - but to say "it sounds to me like a bad profile vs. a great amp" and "like a wet fart vs. a tidy parp" .... I can only interrpet that as either an attempt at humor (?) or a deliberate subjective "shit" on the product and the company for other reasons / purposes (?) ... which of course is your right also .. but at least be open about it (?)

I wrote what I wrote as it was my opinion, which I think I'm entitled to? And yes, in case you need me to spell it out further - it was one which was both negative and humorous for good measure.

If you play the Clip you posted, Ola explicitly says the "big difference" is between the playback system between the real Tube Power Amp Section in the Mesa -vs- the Class D Amp in the Powered Kemper.

For live playback purposes, this difference - which is real - affects all "copying" platforms ie: Tonex, QC, NAM, QC, KPA V1 and V2 etc.... unless you use a DI Capture and plug the resulting "copying" platform Capture/Profile into the return of the same Amp you just copied.

This has been an issue since Day 1 of "copying" tech started [by Kemper] and continues today for all the platforms

" That sounds basically the same "

I'll leave it there

IMHO the V2 profile Ola shot sounded pretty darn good - I'd hit that.

That said, it's unfortunate that it's a bit too late (by about 2-3 years) & given Kemper's a$$ attitude towards their users, I'm just gonna pass on anything they'll put out. They have to come out with super-duper quantum accuracy for me to bother with their antics.

V2 sounds good though - in league with NDSP Neural Capture v2 or Tonex v2 from what _my_ ears can tell.

he was hazarding a guess at what he thought could be causing some of the differences, and that's fine ...

but then again, it's also completely fine to put it down to it being just not accurate enough to keep up with expectations?
The Kemper profiling technology is almost 20 years old by now and certainly isn't as good as all the newer more modern solutions we all know and love.

Probably not. I actually like Kemper and I’m glad they’re up to parity with other options but they’re still way behind in other ways.

As an example, I had rehearsal the other night with IEM’s going through tracks that we’re running with the function band.

Our other guitarist forgot her mic. Absolutely no problem with the QC, I just set her up a separate chain with an AC30 sim and we were sorted in less than 5 minutes. Try doing that with a Kemper. I’m sure it sounds good but it’s limited. To some people that won’t matter.

To me the primary issue with Kemper is that it's still captures. I just don't want a capture device unless it's cheap and very portable. Even Tonex One was a bit of a reluctant purchase for me to get all the plugins in their group buy.

The way I see it, as long as it's captures in their current form I'll never enjoy it as much as something that operates and behaves like real amps.

Does anyone know whether Mk2 captures would now support proper capturing of more complexed signal chains, such as, say, a stacked compressor dirt box and amp?

I haven't been following the whole V2 thing. Are V2 profiles not able to be captured with the hardware? Is it like NAM and Tonex where you need to use a computer or the cloud to do the processing?

I do recall there being something a bit wank about the whole thing, so yes this rings a bell. I guess we'll find out for reals soon enough.

Looks like (?) they are [still] done on the unit but now through Rig Manager - not clear yet if the attached PC's resources are used for the new V2 profile creation process.

Thought there was something about being able to capture on the device but to finish the processing it needs the PC. So you could go make captures but you’d still have to hook it up to get them to a useable state.

They mentioned you need a PC for V2 profiles & Ola's profile was triggered from his PC so it doesn't look like any of that's changed for V2.

I'm sure previously it was stated that you'd need to be online too - ie; training in the cloud.

Watching Ola’s video….. I actually hate that I like the look of this

Honestly I thought the same thing! It does look really nice for sure.

I still can't believe they didn't give all the models the same features though like wi-fi. Seems like a no-brainer.

You know what, if I find a Stage Mk2 for under $800 maybe I'll roll the dice.
