Assuming the profiling is top notch - would you buy a Kemper MK2 now?

Honestly, no. For two main reasons:
1. I was interested in the MkII, until I realized they've done nothing with the UI.
2. Their (Kemper the company) behavior has been abhorrent over the last few months, in regards to how they've treated people on their own forum. Not interested in supporting such an arrogant and pompous company.

Kinda in the same boat as wookie.
They needed to revamp the unit AND add the improved profiling if I were to be interested. There are just too many great options out there already

If I were diehard into the capture/profile thing specifically right now, I'd like either wait to see how Proxy is, or just go for a QC, since those have already been proven to be great, whether 1.0 or 2.0.

On the flipside, if someone's already invested in Kemper stuff, AND what they've got will be updated to 2.0, it might be a good value.

And that's if you need hardware. You could always load up NAM for free (don't kill me for saying NAM)

Yeah, if I gave a crap about profiling/capturing Id probably just hold off a few months and see how Proxy does. Plus I’ve always found Kemper’s looks and interface antiquated.

Yeah, i'm not saying that Kempers are crap or anything - far from it. But as a whole package they're severely lacking compared to alternatives in the same price bracket.

Now, sadly they're still way dated in several things. And even more sadly, their awful way of treating users on their own forum is nearly unacceptable.
Too much money that's better spent on better units.

No. There’s no plugin, and there’s better platforms now for use in recording. Even a small ToneX or chinese NAM thing is more flexible and useful in 2026.
It also concerns me a bit that managing a library of mishmashed kemper profiles would get very messy. I’d probably want to start from scratch with the latest models.
I’m also not sure I’d want to start making more profiles of all my amps all over again for another new property format, unless it wipes the floor significantly with existing platforms.

I am hooked on my AM4. If I really want to do captures, I'll pull the Tonex out of its box.

If it wasn't for the whole paid DLC nonsense, I may have ended up buying a Player... the rest has put me off even more.
NAM is free and even if Kemper 2.0 is incredible I just can’t see it being better.
So If it’s not the best in capture then it needs to be the best at something…QC and Stadium have the UI, Fractal has the best effects and models (and will support NAM) and Tonex along with Chinese NAM pedals have them on price. I just feel like they sit in this weird middle ground without any big feature that would draw you to their ecosystem vs anything else.

Possibly, yes. Kemper still has the best UX of any modeler/profiler out there and it's not even close (disclaimer: for me).
It lets me operate the unit (at least the toaster variant) more like an actual amp, instead of a computer/smartphone. No touch, simple buttons and large encoders.
People complain about the screen being a calculator from 1977 but that's the main appeal to me.
I work with IT every day. When I play guitar, I want as "analog:esque" as possible.
