I’ve been speaking to him via text the last couple days, he had a crazy ice storm by his place that took out electricity and phone lines all over the place. He’s probably on top of his shed trying to remove the tree from it now!

I live alone too. Have a system of daily texting with a platonic female friend and a sibling, once in the morning and once at night. Haven't stopped this ritual since COVID.

Getting my dog made me wants to address this, I didn’t find it all that important previously. Now I’ve got a friend who watches him occasionally and my boss/assistant at work ready to go with keys to my place and numbers to each other. Work will definitely know before anyone else if I kicked the bucket or something is wrong.
