Anyone got any positive stories about finger injury recovery?

It kinda looks bad, so open image on your own " risk " , for people who don't like to see wounds , it doesn't look pretty.

I ripped off entire fingertip + nail on my pinky finger . Got like few stitches .....
Recovery is - 100% there , I don't notice that pinky finger is holding me back in my like , " normal situations ".
I am starter guitar player, so can't comment on that , but I am very competitive video gaming person, and my pinky for sure doesn't hold me back there, and my reflexes in video games need to be like top class so ....

I worked directly for the NHS for 7 years many years ago but I’ve been working for medical companies that supply / support it for the last 30 years. I completely believe in it. It’s not perfect but any organisation this big has its issues and I’m very grateful for it. With the finger thing, I had immediate diagnostics, splint and advice, follow up with an expert, anaesthetic (with a nerve block using an ultrasound machine I’d sold the hospital!), surgery in one of the top hand units in the U.K., follow up nursing appointments, physio…..the only thing I’ve had to worry about is getting better. Although we pay taxes, the cost to me *at the point I’ve needed if* has been zero.

Breaking Bad would not and could not have been set here - you’ll be treated if you’re broke or if you’re rich and again it won’t cost you anything. On insulin? No problem - it’s yours, rich or poor.

Unfortunately we have populist folks here trying to run things and, next time round, they might have the power they seek. They want to go to a USA style healthcare system and unfortunately there’s enough folks here who are hard of thinking that they might just pull it off. I’m hoping not but it’s not looking great and the folks who want this will not realise what they’ve lost till it’s gone. I cannot imagine the stress you guys go through with this stuff - we just don’t need to expend that headspace right now.
It’s difficult for me to imagine anyone in Britain thinking, “We should be doing things more like they do them in the US”, but then it’s often difficult for me to imagine anyone in the US wanting to do things as we do them in the US.

I don’t know how some of these common sense matters even manage to become “political”, but steering clear of politics on TGF… I’ll agree and leave it at that.

Glad you are recovering and making progress. I'll be 62 in a couple of weeks and I have had 3 hand surgeries, two carpal tunnel (both hands) and one trigger finger (fret hand). It took a while to get through it and I had to relearn some things but I am playing as well as ever these days. As long as I remember to stretch and take care of my hands I am good to go. Strange thing is, I am subbing in a band right now where the main guitar player has some kind of infection in the middle finger on his fretting hand and can't play. They are talking amputation but we are praying for a full healing for Dave. Life is funny sometimes and you just have to roll with it and have a little faith.
