What to do about my trem?

A little bit of extra routing on the back of the guitar to get that extra functionality would be *totally* worth it to me. But to each his own...
My Google results must have picked up something different. There was a much larger trapezoidal route on the front of the guitar. Retrofitting that part would require major routing and probably a refin.

It depends if it has any space under the plate. If there is a neck angle and you can get about 5mm clearance under the plate it’s the same mount as a surface Floyd.

As you can see the bridge protrudes forward from the fulcrum by quite a bit so the leading edge requires quite a lot of clearance. Usually a rout but no always.

Simple design with the equilibrium adjustment from the knob on top. Works well with no effect on the free movement in operation. No central click just free floating and hard tail in the park position. Tune in the hard tail position and fine tune the spring tension with the knob to match (same as a TT).

The pre-refined Parker Fly has a similar system, in theory at least:

Not the same. The Parker system doesn’t lock it just puts something behind to prevent up pull . This in practice is useless because it still doesn’t help with double stop bends and is never quite hard against the back stop . It only works if you set it in down bend only and tighten the spring enough to resist a bend ( not going flat) . Then you can’t switch to floating without rebalancing. I had two and it doesn’t work in practice to switch. It’s fine as one or the other. The other systems that can do it are; TT , Auto latch ,convertible . The last two are constantly in need of adjustment..

I *love* my Parker Fly, but Eagle is right on the money with this. Hence why I always keep mine in free floating mode. Even though it doesn't offer the same functionality as the TransTrem or Jam Trem, it is still a very nice feeling trem.
