Alex Lifeson used Tonex on the Junos performance and will use it on upcoming tour

For one gig at least...

Was just checking out ToneX at Thomann...
Hopefully this is fixed by now or the gigs should be fun! ;)

His tone was gorgeous, as always. But I’d even go so far as to say it sounded better this time than it has since Rush moved to a silent stage setup with tube heads and the Palmer PDI.

Tonex deserves more high-profile endorsers and wider recognition. Say what you will, but Tonex delivered a level of tone quality superior to anything else on the market at the time, at a price point that makes high-quality digital rigs accessible to a broader spectrum of musicians - especially in peripheral countries like mine (Brazil).

The previous update addressed preset switching and multiple items from the last few updates were specifically from working with Alex on his touring rig. Though TONEX is used by a lot of gigging musicians reliably already, this tour is a bit of a complicated and coordinated show compared to most so he was rightfully picky about a few things.

Makes sense! Tonex is great, and the downsides of captures (as they currently are) don't matter for a situation like this. I think Tonex actually makes way more sense for a setup like this than like the UA amp pedals or similar things some pros have talked about using.

It's cool that he found an equivalent to Ged's Sansamp. But I think he needs the Tonex 1U Rack. With the beefed up effects section of Amplitube 6. :p

The Tonex would probably sound even better plugged into some of those Avalon pres that Geddy has.

Really amazing - the tones you can get out of a $400 pedal. I remember playing it beside an FM3 and the tones and feel on several amps on the Tonex were just better
I'm guessing the profiles work on the One too(?), but they can only store 20(?).

"One" was almost free a few days ago (Thomann Spring Sale)...

Kemper used artificial feel through their always-on compression that made some people prefer it. Cliff explained how to make the Axe-Fx feel similar if you wanted that.
I don't know if ToneX is using a similar trick to some degree...

ToneX and NAM are using a totally new technology using AI machine learning compared to Kemper. Both ToneX and NAM are the closest digital thing I have found to playing the real amps.
