Adventures of the Mighty KRAMPUS! (Zoom G11 et al.)

How do you know that those aren’t caused by buffers, audio circuitry, impedance interactions etc? In fact, I’d hazard a guess that the presence loss is nothing at all to do with conversion.

Hearing differences in conversion isn’t straightforward even when things are properly isolated and tested, and listened to in a well treated studio. For guitar gear when the conversion isn’t the only variable, and everything else going on? Probably not hearing the contribution of the converters specifically.
Thats a possibility. The converter specs on the G11 are excellent and the GT100 is 12 years old. So the audio circuitry could be better on the G11, but its the same class of mass produced guitar gear, so I suspect they are using similar op amps, etc.

So when I say conversion, it encapsulates the other things as well.

I don't hear any tone suck with the G11. With the GT100 I heard such a minimal amount it didn't matter.
