For all you pickup flippers and mod guys, what are your 3 favorites? The ones you can put into different guitars and usually be satisfied. Not necessarily the bridge pickup you think is quirky and unique, but one that is more of a workhorse. Choose 1 runner-up too.

In order:
1. Steve's Special
2. Super Distortion
3. PAF Pro
Close runner-up is the FRED.

Each one is voiced different but I can still make them work for my needs. They've all translated over well to different guitars too.

Man here’s mine in no particular order

• Balaguer Evergreen
• Seymour Duncan Blackened Black Winter
• Seymour Duncan SH5

The Evergreen is absolutely my go-to humbucker set for Les Paul’s.

The SH5 has been around a long time. Never tried it myself though.

I've been fortunate with the ones I've picked, they work great across set neck mahogany and bolt on s-style guitars. I go through phases of swapping them out but in reality each one could do the job well.

Jalen "Fair Warning"

HighOrder "Brown Sound"

Ibanez "Super70"
I'm familiar with the Super 80 "flying fingers" pickups. They came stock in my '77 artist. They definitely have a sweet spot up to a point but can squeal when gain gets higher. I love the neck position better than the bridge.

Planet Tone Clearvoyant, with 14k wind
Planet Tone Clearvoyant, with stock wind

Great in Strats and Strat-oid guitars, paired with good hum-free singles. In parallel wiring, they are a good match for hot and vintage strength singles, and switch to series for a nice boost.

I can't even think of a Top 3. My choices change depending on
the guitar, and the style of music being played.

I'll go with:

Slightly overwound PAF--a dozen different brands would do.
A4 based Telecaster with copper base.
Duncan JB because it is ubiquitous and used on damn near on everything I love.
