That's actually an interesting question.
There's a whole truckload of strange, unclear, shady and whatever things when it comes to musical notation and analysis. Maybe an AI would be able to weed out some of those - but rest assured, on of the hostorical "camps" (kinda like classical vs. more modern) would be all up in arms.

And a back door dominant is very much a borrowed chord. So why the special rule?

Yes it’s 5of♭7 and kinda probably works with the ♭7⁷ leading to 1 but I’m at work.

I’m not sure I’ve run into a 5of♭7 yet. As an exercise i accept it.

But that is completely awkward as it sort of ignores the musical context. If you have a IV7 in a blues, it doesn't work as a 5ofb7.
Or what about tritone substitutes? A Db7 in the key of C major hardly is a 5ofb5.

As I’ve shown if 5 of X leads to X it’s a 5of. Otherwise it’s a scale degree.

If you have a 2- 5 of X it’s written (2- 5)ofX. Or you can have a (2° 5)ofX for a minor two five.
