Winter NAMM 2026 predictions

Yamaha is announcing new edrum stuff tomorrow and I'm loosing my shit just waiting for it. I work in IT for a hospital so maybe I can get someone to put me under a medically induced coma for the next 24 hours.

I'm really hoping there are some genuine innovations in the e-drum market coming down the pike. EZD and Superior sound great but the modules are almost there, IMO. Nothing is gonna deter me from my dream of all-digital extreme brutality. :satan

I'll see myself out...

Did you ever try the Alesis Strata Prime or Core, out of interest?

It's nowt to do with me anymore, so I don't really care, but it's pretty damn capable. A whole BFD engine in the box, with all of the doohickery you could really ask for.

The Alesis stuff seems to have a lot more variety than Yamaha does, that's for sure. However Alesis reliability leaves much to be desired. But because I'm extremely picky with drum sounds, I'm probably just gonna go ahead and purchase an acoustic kit to make my own samples.

I didn't have an Ed Sheeran PRS on my bingo card:
