Why isn't bass cut a more popular feature on a guitar?

I think it’s not more popular because people don’t want to mess with their tone knobs.

Fucking nailed it! Not to mention their volume knobs. Those are supposed to be permanently
stuck on max, right?

I think it is a curse and a crutch.

It blows my mind to this day how many players get stuck on full tilt and never vary at any
point and time. Roll that shit back on the verses when a guy/gal is singing? Why the hell
would anyone do that? :idk

I like it on my Reverend Airsonic W, which has Nuevo 90’s (P-90’s) and was “told/sold” that this feature would allow them to go from single coil to humbucker tones with P-90 in the middle. One guitar to rule them all…

I’m not looking to add that feature to any other guitar – to me it’s a unique feature of it (along with the holes…) that I enjoy. I also like the two volume controls but not so much the coil-split on my ESP LTD … and the pickup options on my Ultra Strat are pretty good etc.

So while I like it for that guitar, I’m not sure I’d want it for humbuckers or single coils – but how would I know other than I’m not looking for another Reverend with Chisel Railhammers? I like my Reverend, they are about my price-point but my next guitar will probably be an ES-335 or clone or a Gretsch.

The Cut control on my Bad Cat Black Cat amp is pretty good.

Yes, I do have gear options and a few guitars – but if it was 1 guitar I’d likely choose that Reverend to cover as many bases as possible. I often practice with it then move to the ESP for extra heavy or the Strat for extra clean/classic.

Any excuse to use my gear/chase tones!
