Which should I trade for?

If i do get the 5150; I'll whip up a thread asking how to take the back off :rollsafe :rofl
I would expect nothing less than a diy headshell conversion made from cereal boxes

LX has been on the block for a little bit. GREAT piece, don't use it. I got a trade offer for a 5150 combo in great shape (that I would assume is a plus cash on) or a Single Rectifier that would probably be straight across. I need neither; but both are obviously in my wheel house. I kinda feel like I should complete the trio, even though the 5150 combo is not the same as the OG head.

Thoughts? I legitmately (almost) haven't made up my mind. Yet :bag
The 5150 combo...I just can't imagine your position not to quickly devolve into "I hate having this fucking combo sitting around." Which isn't a terrrrrrible spot to be in the trade is right, because my guess is a 5150 combo is going to be easier to move than the LX? I dunno, maybe not.

Single Recto seems...like having a Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster as a backup to the Bumblebee Strat?

Yuo know me so damn well :rofl :rofl :rofl

Don’t you have a multi-watt recto? I’d assume you weren’t seriously entertaining the single rec.

Not sure if you’ve looked at new prices on the LX poweramp, but they are $1600. That just blew my mind.

The variation on the 5150 combo pricing has been wilder than the head pricing from what I've seen. Anywhere from $750 to $1500. The heads seem to sit around $1200 for the most part, which I think is fair the OG's. While not having the same versatility of the following models, it's the OG and that carries enough weight to keep it right about the price I see 100watt EVH heads going for used.

there was def a lot of lore in the hcaf days about how the combo sounded better and threads about chopping the speaker section off hahaha. good times.

It is a tweaked version of the OG Head, with a smaller/trimmed down Power Section. :idkI guess EVH thought
the Blues Lawyers would love taking it to Open Mic so he insisted it have a decent Clean
Channel.

Proof EVH was not always right. :rofl

My mentality is I wouldn’t trade for something heavier and more difficult to ship than what I already have for sale unless I knew for sure I’d be keeping the thing traded for and not wanting to sell it down the line.

Wasn’t the combo circuit tweaked slightly so it’s somewhere towards a 5150II/6505+?

Can’t remember 100% but i’m sure I heard JB say that on a podcast. A bit like how all the EVH models evolve slightly with each model
