What's preventing you from getting a Helix Stadium (if you really want to buy it eventually)?

What is it you want?

Not the wrong thread. If Stadium could stream shows on its screen and came with 3 months of Apple TV for free, JT would get one. So, it's the lack of Apple TV support that is preventing him from getting a Stadium to watch Plur1bus. Definitely needs to ba added to the poll.
Just imagine @Boudoir Guitar's vicious cycle...

And somehow I'm only just now getting the "bedroom guitarist" joke. Clever! (Of him; not me.)

<...but...he has one already, wat? must be a different JT, maybe it rhymes with buck3>

I returned a Stadium LT after a few days of trial last week. There is a lot I liked about it but ultimately I'm holding out to see if the effects get revamped and how things are later on with Agoura and Proxy. I'm probably going to move on to QC Mini and call it good for a year or two on the modeling side - the desktop only or pedalboard add-on format is where my need is at the moment.

I’ve seen this a few times in various threads? What does “revamped” FX mean? I’m sure they’ll add MORE FX, but the old ones don’t sound worse because is new hardware.

I.m.h.o .... 22 pages in .... this thread has turned into a clusterfuck of some people not even trying to understand where the Stadium sits in its development phase which was explicitly explained by D.I in their initial announcement ie: brand new modeling, very few [so far] Agoura Amps etc.... yet its turned into straight out L6 passive-aggressive "shitting-on" because (a) well .... its L6 and (b) because they were expecting a pre-emptive Axe FX 4 killer ... its middle school self-justified thought processes and opinions openly and proudly dressed down in fuck-knuckle'ry

I know and am thankful this isn't T.O.P but this thread in its totality is i.m.h.o one of the very few real low-points for TGF so far.

1 - Too expensive - I agree for some people
2 - Don’t overly love the design - absolutely don't agree but that's irrelevant as this come down to personal preference

3 - Don’t really like HX amp modelling compared to others
4 - Don’t find a lot of difference in the amp tones from the regular Helix

Re: 3 and 4 ... were you a Helix owner / user ? and how much time have you spent using the new Stadium though your own rig ?
I had a Helix for about a month and borrowed the Stadium for a few days. Mostly their stuff is just not for me. YMMV. Many other better options out there. I did not like the Stadium much at all.

This thread goes all the way off into TV shows and movies and directors and whatnot. And somebody’s gonna give me shit for putting up my opinion? Whoever does that, and I don’t give a fuck who it is, can fuck off.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHh. I see. If DI said that the thing isn’t going to live up to its $2k+ price tag at launch than we should just accept that it doesn’t live up to its price tag yet and buy it anyway…

Not at all what I'm getting at. I [still naively] assume that people have eyes and ears and partially functioning base level powers of perception and understanding.

No-one ... including D.I / L6 ... are saying anything other than that the Stadium is in its infancy - its an 8 - 10 year product and is only about 2-3 months into its "life" ... and some people - or moron's as I prefer to call them - are bitching that it is not at the level of stability / maturity / sonic bliss etc.... of the 10+ year old mature OG Helix or the 7+ year old mature OG Axe 3 etc.....

And for the record and a side note, on TGP when the OG Axe 3 was released, and Cliff was specifically asked how much better it would sound than the [at the time current] Axe 2 ... his answer was ... absolutely honest ....not much at all, but that over time this would change .... truth from him then ... and truth from L6 / D.I now

One of the oft-cited rules sprouted on these forums is "only ever buy gear for what it does now" and don't expect any more ... fine for drum sticks and strings and guitars and acoustic drum kits or analog pianos etc.... but tier 1 pro digital modeling is a whole different world

The top tier units from L6 or Fractal or QC or TMP are all designed up-front to be long-life-span massively-upgradable-over-time units.

This isn't breaking news.

Its not revolutionary news.

But if some people have the $$ and buy one now and expect ^this^ instead of expecting to ride the "journey" as the product matures, then their opinions and thoughts have, to me, no respect or credibility.

Just my 2c

Agreed. When any new unit launches, If you want the most fleshed out device today... save a buck and get something second hand or on special.
If you want to own a top dog modeller and be on for the ride for all future updates and goodies, grab the flagship.

FM3, Helix Stomp all killer units at the best bang for buck price points (even better second hand). I'd even chuck in a QC mini here or second hand QC.

TMP/Stadium are the latest flagships with the longest road left on them.
QC/Axe3 could have a couple more years
FM3 I guess is the true unicorn here, extremely well priced and still a flagship.

Not even mentioning Kemper, ToneX, NAM units, chinese modeller units. There's literally everything at every price point these days. You just have to choose what works for you and be happy. If you don't like something there's still probably 50,000 other customers who do like it, spoiled for choice.

This is a long winded way of saying Stadium is exactly where we all expected it to be at. Currently having all of Helix + Agoura + Early stages of Showcase. Proxy is around the corner and im sure there's a couple more Agoura amps with that release. All followed by 5-10 years of updates with more and more goodies. Will be a no brainer purchase for me.
