What gear from genres much different than your own give you GAS?

For me; stoner/doom. Hands down; not even a question. So much cool looking and sounding gear for music I am not even remotely adjacent to. :satan

I want that Black Arts Quantum Mystic in the vid below \m/ I am pretty sure that once my OG 5150 (or "Ooops; I tripped and accidentally bought an SLO") addition to the amp pile is complete next year; I'm looking for a doom amp of some sort

Yeah I wouldn't kick a Matamp out of bed...

There's cool blues amps out there like all the Dumble or Tweed style amps that I know I'd probably enjoy, only to find them just too limited and or even bad for the rock/hard rock stuff I typically play.

With the two BluGuitars and the Mark V, there's not much I'd gain from more amps.

Pretty much everything related to classic rock and country tones right now.

Almost none of the stuff I’ve been buying lately is suited for metal/modern metal, I love the edge of breakup and dirt tones in the country world and I’m definitely getting an understanding of how guitars in standard tuning with just a hint of dirt can sound bigger than any wall of Mesa’s or 5150’s and guitars tuned down to C or lower.

Definitely gaining an appreciation for fuzzes in the classic rock world, there’s just so many flavors and they’re so reactive to your playing/guitar, it’s a treat when you get one that really works with you as a player and your gear, though there’s a bit of ‘navigating the medium’ when it comes to actually playing through them in that you can’t play them like you would a high-gain amp.

Esp E-II Horizon NT makes me GAS. Don't know exactly why but it is what it is.

ENGL Amps generate fair amounts of GAS in me.

Number 1 absolutely has to be, Les Pauls. Always has been.

HATE playing them, LOVE the way they look and sound.

I also LOVE Teles, IN OTHER PEOPLES' HANDS AND AMPS, lol.

Edit: Shit, while we're at it, I LOVE the jangle of a Rickenbacker as well, and Filtertron tones. I have absolutely NO interest in playing them though.

Hmmmm. My gear interests and my what am I playing now interests tend to line up so I don’t know that I have a good answer to this. There is a lot of music I listen to that I don’t play, but I also don’t gas for the gear, and I don’t gas for gear for any music I don’t listen to.

I listen to a lot of acoustic music, but I just can’t make myself enjoy playing an acoustic guitar for any style or genre of music. It’s like a completely different instrument to me, and one I just don’t enjoy or feel inspired by. Same at the heavier end. No pointy guitars, ERG’s, or EMG’s ever give me gas, and the SLO is as modern and high gain as I have interest in the amp world. I guess I am old fashioned at heart, but not pre-electric old fashioned.

A Gibson SJ 200 is a big dream of mine I'll never fulfill because I really suck at acoustic guitar.

I have his "Exegol", which is a Model T pre, and can 100% recommend all of the Kuro stuff. Giulio is a wizard.

Exegol on 18V and using the dedicated line-level output -> BEAST MODE. Superior to competitors like e.g. the Model FeT, imho.

If the T120 is of similar quality (very probably so), it's the closest thing to the real amp, as long as you pair it with a nice power amp - or FX return, whatever.

Feel free to let me know if you have specific questions.

I don't know that I have a genre, but I love the look up of a beat up old Telecaster. Mine has some miles but doesn't look like it.

I think the overall rigs and setups of a lot of Nashville guys are GAS inspiring.

Metal stuff not so much, although I'd love a Mesa 2x12 cab.
