Yes the new one is awesome. It's been in my cd player since I got it. Can't stop listening to it.

House of Blues. Boston. May 10th it's gonna be amazing. We've seen them a few times before and they always rock the house.

This came on the TV this evening, a solo guitar set from Joe Pass. There’s a jazz jam session every week at a venue about a 40mn drive from home. I got there early, while waiting for the jam to begin, sipping some hot ginger tea. Was nice to watch him play. I think it was from this concert:



After about 15mn with JP others arrived and we moved to the performance space from this adjacent cafe. There ended up being a couple dozen people and we did a variety of blues and jazz tunes for 3 hours while some watched and some played.

Joe Pass got me into jazz guitar, just a coupla years out of high school in the early 1980s. It was a game changer for me at that point, a primarily rock and blues guitarist.

I don’t listen to him regularly, but watching him play after all these years, and before a weekly jam, was both inspiring and humbling.

Trying to catch up to tons of 80ies stuff, etc., nowadays on headphones...

Amazing how partial I also am to what I started hearing on radio around 1980 (age 15/16). One of these shows often played cuts from this record of which I'm amazed how strong, cool and slick it already sounded (possibly helped by remastering).
I'll sure catch up on his other work from around that time.
This one of course also had the amazing Pat Thrall.

Snortin' Whiskey is the best known one, but I love almost every cut.

Their guitars sound massive in this album in general but the 10 minute mark of this song is the perfect metal guitar rhythm tone in my humble opinion
