What are we watching now?

I have a tough time with him. He can be incredibly obnoxious.
That's what I love about him! He is pretty insufferable in this for good reasons but he plays it beautifully. He's one of my favorite comedians and I would love to catch a show but he's in the UK seemingly 24x7. If he came over here; tickets would astronomical. He has another show Derek where he plays someone with some social disorders and it's probably a bit much for some people's sensitivities but it's absolutely hilarious.

Sometimes to good effect, sometimes less so.

One example: he was always quite charming telling fat jokes about himself. Then, briefly, he got in shape, and carried on with the fat jokes. Less charming. :D

He's also working the "shockingly" gross and/or non-PC angle a little too hard lately, IMO. I don't care that it's not PC; I just don't think it's very good material. (His earlier sets were excellent IMO.)

I just Googled this and saw that it's a series? Wasn't he in a movie with a very similar plot (and perhaps the same name) a few years back? Is this like a continuation of that?
Are you talking about the movie where he is a ghost haunting his wife? That one was typical Hollywood romcom "with a twist". It was ok because I like Gervais but Afterlife really runs the gamut from completely hilarious to deep sadness. It's a great watch imo. The other series I mentioned Derek is all hilarious with a bit of heart thrown in perfectly.

Ah yes, finally found it: Ghost Town. We enjoyed it, but it's definitely got that rom-com template vibe.

I'm going to rush Afterlife to the top (ish... ugh, too much TV to watch) after this recommendation.

It's some onion sandwich material from time to time. So be prepared :bag His love for animals and incorporation of the dog into the storyline tugs at the heartstrings for me something fierce as well. Great ensemble cast of weirdos that really rounds it out :love

Thank you for the heads-up. I routinely cry if a dog food commercial catches me the wrong way, so...

My wife and I love Shrinking. Pluribus was meh, season 2 better start great to get our attention again. Studio was unwatchable to both of us.

Kerry Godliman is INCREDIBLE. Her season of Taskmaster was FAN.TASTIC (not terribly safe for work):

I loved Pluribus. Go figure. I thought the pacing felt a little rushed at the end, but I'm hoping they're setting up for a strong Season 2.

Apple TV was all crap (apart from Ted Lasso) for the first couple of years, but there's some great material on there now.
