What are we watching now?

Wrapped up Task on HBO last week, great story with top notch acting. Peacemaker was fun too.
Task was great. Tom Pelphery was especially excellent.

Watched first 2 episodes of Welcome to Deery as well. Surprisingly good so far. Crazy storyline and some hilarious performances oddly enough.

The Chair Company

GD I love Tim Robinson :rofl
Watched Friendship last night. I am super curious how Tim's one thing is going to play out over the years :rofl It's so oblivious to itself and sooooooo annoying in the best of ways. Watching him sustain this vibe over an entire movie duration was tough but he did it.

Paul Rudd bringing Anchorman character into modern day unironically was funny for a minute but you really had to want to like the movie. I did but it's definitely the new style of borderline abstract/low energy performance art and it's not near as obvious as it is annoying :roflWatching him kick around and cuss and yell in the most inappropriate of situations was hilarious :love

I liked Friendship but a full film of.. that was interesting lol. and of course it was A24 :rofl I think his vibe is at it's strongest in short format sketches a la I Think You Should Leave, but the chair company seems excellent so far. I tried watching Detroiters but couldn't really get into it, but maybe I should give a few more episodes a chance

It was a weird kind of adhd moment. We started another A24 film with Paul Rudd (Death of a Unicorn) and I immediately didn't like it for no real reason. Then we started another A24 film with Paul Rudd (which is odd because I think Paul Rudd would be a cool mellow hang but I don't pick films he is in to watch at all) (Friendship) and I stuck with it. I am glad my wife was napping through it. She is good with oddball crap I make her watch but she gets super irritated with people doing annoying stuff on purpose :rofl

Wayward... 28 Years Later... Umbrella Academy Season 4... (That last one kind of jumped the shark in S3 IMO; then took too long to drop S4, which felt disconnected and half incomprehensible as a result. And the "Now 10% More Zany!™" schtick felt a bit try-hard at times... or maybe I'm just a crank. But I felt like we were supposed to be laughing a lot more than we actually were? That said, Five's storyline was well developed, and affecting.)

Then I watched a random doomsday AI documentary on YouTube, and YouTube's AI took note of me taking note of AI, and now my YouTube feed is 100% documentaries on AI. Most of them will convince you that life as we know it will be over (or more or less meaningless) in 5 or 10 minutes. Give or take. So you may as well go ahead and order that Stadium or whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Laugh it up, fuzz ball. And carpe Stadium. :beer

All my subs start over at increased rates here in December. The old "Black Friday" curse. Probably need to dump everything other than Netflix. Which is like my 13th favorite streaming service

Started Fargo season 5. So far very promising!

We missed this when it first aired, and then the entire show was not on any streaming service for a long time.

Otherwise we've been going through the Mike Flanagan horror shows. I've liked Midnight Mass and Haunting of Bly Manor the most so far. We just finished Midnight Club and it was alright.

We have a couple that are "permanently 50% off as long as you stay subscribed" but they also keep going up. Others are going into "get for a month and binge" mode when some series we want to watch ends its season.

It doesn't help that some services are starting to have sub-subscriptions for content from specific conglomerates.

It's all just become fuckin' cable TV all over again.
