What are we watching now?

Just watched the first season of “Time” written by Jimmy McGovern. It consists of 3 episodes.
Really enjoyed it. If you like gritty British storytelling with superb actors, this is for you.
First broadcast in 2021, I caught it on BBC iPlayer.

This was awesome.
Wrapped up Task on HBO last week, great story with top notch acting. Peacemaker was fun too.
I want to watch Task as well as the new IT series but HBO sub with 137 commercials every 6.2 minutes is absolutely maddening and I am not spending $22 a month for no commercials. Ugh. Dude from Task who was in Banshee always catches my eye as he is always in good stuff.

Yeah I’ve killed off most of my streaming because I don’t want to support any of this continuing media consolidation we’re experiencing. HBO is the guilty pleasure I’ve kept around because they have a massive backlog of absolute masterclass level original content that I enjoy.

I feel like I've watched most of it, though. The Wire, Oz, Curb, Bored to Death, True Detective. Their commercial gauntlet is for me just this side of unpassable :bonk:rofl

HBO Max can suck it. They don't have Tales From the Crypt, and stuff they own goes missing, likely because they would get more money from other streaming services to artificially limit a movie or show to just that streaming service. They also canned Boomerang, saying the stuff would be on HBO Max, yet they don't seem to have much Scooby Doo content on there anymore, so I've had to buy as much as I can find.

Fuck HBO Max.

Everybody knows you’re mad at HBO because Real Sex isn’t there anymore. Go spank it somewhere else.

Doing a slow, sort of trilogy rewatch of sorts. Not related movies but all came out in the same timeframe and at least one of them I have added to my yearly Halloween scary movie binge. They all have a haunted house attraction gone very wrong thing and all are in that teen horror realm?

Watched Hellfest Sunday night. Fairly high budget (for what it is) popcorn flick. Pretty jump scary and a good no brainer. Solid.

Watched Blood Fest last night. First time watching it. Read some good things but realized the good things were generally wrong :rofl Generally speaking; Disney Channel level of acting in their first "grown up film" vibes. I will say there were some funny jokes all things considered and I do admire the spirit of it? I won't be rewatching this one.

Tonight we'll be watching Haunt. Brutal dumb in the best of ways "extreme haunt" slasher. Does not bother with any sort of pretenses. Highly recommend for a turn off your brain and enjoy slasher :satan

I tried to watch one of the Rob Zombie Halloween reboots and couldn’t nope out of THAT trailer park laden fiasco fast enough.

I was hoping to catch one of the 2018 and later sequels, which I recall actually being ok?, but they aren’t on my streaming services.

Weapons was pretty fun/creepy.

Some parts of the 2nd RZ Halloween are ok. Richard Brake and the screeching hospital intro section mayyyyybe? Michael origin story is a white trash abomination. The first 2018 Halloween reboot is solid. The 2nd one sucks (EVIL DIES TONIGHT) and the 3rd has an interesting intro sequence if it wasn't a Halloween film?

Love Hellfest and Haunt. I feel like there is a third film I've seen that is similar (not the one with Rob Scallion, which I don't feel is quite as similar), but I can't think of it at the moment.

The thing about RZH2 is that Michael is not in it.

That's what I read Blood Fest was. It was wayyyyy too light hearted. Hellfest is way better than it should be but Haunt is awesome imo.
