What’s the Japanese LP hierarchy?

I had a day last year where I went to three different GC's trying out new Epi LP Customs because I REALLY wanted an Adam Jones model but wasn't going to drop a dime on one until I was confident there were improvements to Epi's in general, which I kept reading online had happened and they were putting out some decent guitars. I played 6-7 that day and wouldn't spend more than $300 on a single one. Ignoring the lack of a proper setup, they just felt cheap and in comparison to my Edwards LP Custom were outright laughable being in the same price range.

I completely disregarded those AJ Epi's that day, haven't thought about owning one since. There was one at GC the last time I went, a couple actually, I didn't even bother picking one up.

That said, I'd like to try one of those Jared James Nichols goldtops w/ a P90 since they pop up used for pretty cheap. I'm certainly willing to overlook shoddy finishing as long as it'll play decent and stay in tune for a used price.

Opposite direction but I kick myself for trading the Gibson LP Junior Tribute I had. It played and sounded great but I wanted a dual P90 guitar so put it up for sale for $600 to fund a Special. Then ended up trading it for a DSL40, and that had a noise issue due to bad tubes so I sold that at another loss. Of course after I moved the Junior the prices started to go up, and now the stupid things are going for $1000 used.

I picked the guitar up yesterday. It is really nice, and in great condition! Definitely feels like a real Orville By Gibson, and I've compared it to my other one. They felt very similar. The 89 does need some fret work though I reckon, and some electronic sexy times too, etc etc etc.

Will take it to Feline Guitars in the coming months!

Have you ever had Jonathan fit an earvana nut to any of your guitars? I was down getting a refret done about 10 years ago and checked out a feline lion with one on, it was the most intune guitar I'd ever played. I've had Jonathan fit them to all of mine now.

I actually asked him to put a Graphtec nut on my '91 ObG back in the day, and he politely said it already had a very nice bone nut and I should keep it. So that's what I did.

What does the Earvana bring to the table out of interest??

They're compensated so help with tuning. All of my guitars play much more intune all over the neck after having them fitted. Check out one of his lion guitars when you're down next. I was surprised at how much difference it made when I tried one tbh, Jonathan fits them to every guitar they make.
