I remember wanting one of these crazy bad back in the day. Stumbled on some vids where it actually sounded great. Got it for $395 which seems a decent price. We shall see…

Was this tube? Can't remember. Interested to see how it turns out. I watched a Eleven Rack vid from Fluff the other day and it had me thinking old school time as well for no real justifiable reason :bag

Just get the Head Rush then. Isn't it the same thing? :grin
Ewww Hea.....

This is actually earned nostalgia if I am being honest. I did my last dad thrash band's recording with the 11 Rack. Plus the draw of the 2 space form factor that means **** all in reality. I digress :bag :rofl

Nostalgia's a bitch.

I've been eyeing Rocktron Intellifex units on Reverb occasionally. Makes no sense but hey!

Man I got a Piranha for like $375 or 400 about 7 months ago… and yes it’s still in a box in the closet! lol.

I was just thinking about the Intellifex. Those were killer units. I’d like to see if I could find a good condition G-Major 2

It's part of my broader dream to recreate Dean Deleo's rig lol

A Nashville session/touring guy did that a while back actually, can't recall the details but he was such a massive fan of Dean that he had a complete copy of the rig made. I love that there's such a wild disconnect between the background of these session musicians and the albums they end up making!

I wonder if Rocktron as a brand will ever get a reboot. Has no one gobbled them up
in an acquisition to make it happen?

Pretty sure Mustaine used the Prophesy for a good bit there, didn't he? :idk

He did indeed. And not just in pictures. He actually toured with it for a few years as a main rig.

Then he had some wild looking Line 6 3-space rack units that never came to market.

I had one of those it’s like an Egnater EG4 and and Eventide
Fun fact I remember calling and talking to Bob Waller back in the day and he told me the actual preamp was voiced exactly or as close to the full Egnater EG4 tube preamp they were also selling back then
Apprently Bruce voiced the 4 channels and did loud comparisons between the rack tube preamp and the Prophesy until he had them close enough it was very difficult to tell

Yeah, I mostly think of Mustaine as a Rocktron guy during the classic Megatdeth era.

The Line 6 was 'United Abominations' era; Dave has used some weird sh*t. :D

I'd always been Prophesy curious but that started to wane sometime after the AxeFx II FW12 or so... Owning a Piranha sometime thereafter also did not help, as I felt that unit was wildly overrated.

Oh wow! That’s cool actually. I did not know that…

Yeah Mustaine is who fueled my Prophesy GAS for sure. I still haven’t even cracked the Piranha open to see if it even works! Lol.

To be fair, I kinda bought both of these for content on the channel for a couple “throwback” vids and then to profile and capture the best presets tones and make a few as well and sell the packs cheap.

I figure there’s enough nostalgia to warrant giving it a shot anyway.

I can remember drooling over the guitar magazine adverts for the Utopia rack system.

Yep I had the intellifex and the velocity 300 , even back then the velocity sounded great
But those racks were $$$$$$
The Intellifex I think was 1200 or around that
The Velocity unfortunately blew up about a year in and it really blew up , there was flames inside and smoke
Took it to local repair shop and it was the caps on the main board but of course the fire wiped out the board and it was half the cost to buy a new one as it was used and out of warranty

Epic! I still have a few Rocktron rack pieces around here. Used a Pro Gap in Studio
about 1989-90---and hated that fucking thing. :horse
Man I had the later era one and you needed a degree in that new math the kids are doing to dial it in.
