Well that's the best on this clusterf**k

Gotta bring that TOP vibe, bro!

I think what good ‘ol’ Chuck Berthaud is doing is cool. He’s is redoing his “slapocolypse” video with Alex Hutchings and the other dude whose name I forget.
He also went into detail about his regret working with the Italian dude

But yeah, let's just share their property and see if they complain...

Well, Rick’s been making videos for about a decade now, so……ya gonna provide the evidence that there are artists angry about his videos?

I can give you examples of musicians who earn their living off their music thanking him for his content. If this is truly as egregious as you claim and artists are truly being shafted by Rick, I would have to believe that after a decade there’s at least one sentence in existence stating such, from an actual artist.

All the cross-dressing Starbucks™ baristas-by-day, Reddit moderators-by-night hate that MF.

That's enough for me.

I'm not quite sure why you feel the urge to needlessly add those ad hominems with every post.

You decided to sidetrack this thread with some pretty outrageous legal claims that artists, labels, and their experienced lawyers don't seem to agree with you on. Unless you can point to the lawsuits filed against Beato and YouTube, and no, a take down request is NOT the same thing.

I don't find him to be an expert really in anything beyond maybe music theory as explained in his $250 Online Course?

I'm not a regular Beato watcher by any means, but there's some good stuff to be found for free on his channel, too, especially when you're not too experienced with theory. He might not be a really hot gun, but he certainly knows some stuff. Some of his chart analysis videos, often covering harmonic stuff, aren't too bad, either.

If you had you wouldn’t have felt the need correcting with “label” since I said “artist’s label”. Which literally is the same.

I didn't correct you on the label thing but on the rights. The label never owns the copyright but the rights for publishing, monetizing and further usage.

Let’s revisit…
This is what you quoted of mine…

The rights to the sound recordings is owned by the artist’s label.
This… is what you said…
No. The rights to monetize the recordings are owned by the label.

It literally is the same, there’s 2 things to be owned one is mechanicals owned by the write and its publisher
And the other is called sound recordings and are the rights pertaining to the reproduction of master. (This is not like Germany with GEMA and GVL.)

And I’m not gonna do a long back and forth…
If this keeps going about whether Beato does this or that I’ll just nuke the damn thread since I’m the OP.

So in an effort to bring this back onto the actual subject….

Watching this vid. This guy is good but I have never seen any of his stuff. Probably because he's usually about getting better as a player :bag :rofl

Tory Grainy is what would happen if SkyNet® were to send a guitar playin' cybernetic organism back from the future to show you how a plectrum works.

So Jack The Ripper cut women up and removed their internal organs. Even hung them around the room for decoration.

Rick Beato vivisects music with cold precision, hoisting its still-beating heart onto a staff, chanting diminished scale formulas in reverse as a choir of Berklee dropouts drinks blood from Grammy-shaped chalices beneath a pentagram of vintage Neve consoles—each tone analyzed, each soul offered, all in service to the Great God of Dead Music, Theoryus the All-Knowing.

Two guys giving Beato props for his work, one who has brought up publishing/IP for the duration of his career and the other who went after Coldplay for snagging a portion of his music-

One could say, "Well, Vai just doesn't understand what's going on legally", but I very much doubt that is the case as he's said over the years that when he got into the music business he was just as obsessed with learning the ins and outs of it as he was learning guitar and has stated that educating himself on it has earned him a considerable amount of money, just like his IP for the Ibanez JEM and RG's. Add in the fact he's owned his own label since the late 90's, focused on putting as much money in the artist's pocket while giving them complete creative power.

I can't imagine Vai being a fan of his channel and not once considering how it works on the legal side of things. He's surely heard Beato talk about it at this point and if anything, has an interest in the discussion.
