Well that's the best on this clusterf**k

Yknow, that internal voice.... the internal critic.... the one I have calls me a c*nt constantly, and says I'm such a c*nt that I don't deserve a fanbase, I don't deserve listens, why bother putting anything out there, no-one cares anyway....

... and then slimey fucks like this guy get to steal and develop a huge cult following.

It just does not make fucking sense.

I actually had this EXACT line of thinking yesterday, to a T, because I’m the exact same way. Every clip I’ve ever posted has come after talking myself into posting it. “Who gives a fuck?” is the loudest voice, “You’re just showing off” would be the 2nd loudest voice.

I had an unrelated conversation with my boss last week and her advice/words in that conversation carry over to this one just the same-

‘While it’s frustrating, be happy that you’re not the one that needs to learn how to do the right thing from a major life lesson that’s going to kick your ass”

If this guy is lucky, he’ll have a few thousand people that continue to not care he stole shit, they might click Like on his stuff in the future, but it’ll take him forever to make good on his name to the world it matters to the most; the guitar playing/making community.

The really crazy thing is that this dude clearly has some issues surrounding releasing original music as well and while I’d suspect it’s a devil on our shoulders telling you and I not to post stuff, it’s like his devil beat the shit out of the angel and replaced him with another devil that tells him to steal music if his isn’t good enough to post. :rofl

As much as I wished you were right pop music has shown us that it doesn’t matter.
As in… there is no bad publicity.

I mean from Vanilla Ice to Zeppelin folks rip shit off, and if they get pantsed they’ll end up settling.
And then only a few guys will hold onto the pitchforks.

Heck, how many times did Funky Drummer get sampled…

Now as for the copyright part of things…
And the regurgitating others solos.
Most of them sell their licks online right?
To me -even though it seems silly- when guys buy licks they get to regurgitate them

The whole tunes/arrangements…that’s fucked.

And again usually clowns like the Italian gelding here will get their ass straightened eventually with their sub par live stumblage.

The amount of people arguing that the people who had their music stolen were lucky to have it stolen by someone so popular is just….I hadn’t realized humanity had gone quite that far in that direction.

People nowadays are entitled assholes with little regard or concern for others, and a work ethic that would never have cut it 20 years ago. And it’s not a generational thing, either, as it engulfs a wide swath of demographics.

I've watched a few other vids since the initial one and have been pretty stoked there's this much pushback to all this bullshit. While I can't say I particularly felt Beato had any responsibility to say something as much as many others feel very strongly about it, I think it IS good when people with a bigger platform decide to call out shit like that.

There are a lot of people angry at Beato for not getting into the details, but I agree with Rick in that all that stuff has been covered repeatedly now. I personally think what Rick says is far more of a hit than reciting the list of grievances.

Timestamped to the only real important part of the video-

While many vids cited Turra as a great player on his own, creating the confusion over why he needs to copy/fake shit, Beato just flat out states he sucked. Beato's a polarizing dude, but in the context of 2025 and the world we live in, that's about the biggest professional condemnation a musician can get.

I didn't even know who this guy was until the controversy. Why try to pass off someone else's composing as your own? I don't get it. That much effort would have been better spent writing your own stuff. Using sampling and drum loops/programs is one thing (and a gray area) but borrowing or stealing whole arrangements without credit is just plain wrong... and dumb.

I think people get it in their heads that playing guitar is difficult, so they give up, and then resort to this fakery/AI/midi guitar tracks/miming out of frustration.

All you have to do is spend 10,00 hours playing guitar.. then it becomes fun & easy.

Maybe you're joking, but I wouldn't call guitar easy unless you're not interested in growing as a player. And in many ways it's like golf or any other skill -- just when you think you have it figured out, the next day happens.

Not gonna lie.. I do not unde4rstand why people post fake guitar stuff, but there's a hell of a lot of it going around right now.

Just tryna figure it out.

I cannot put myself into those people's headspace.

Yeah, it's a line I'm not ready to cross -- using AI to create melodies, write, and play for me, lol. Same goes for gridding out guitar leads, note for note?! I realize synth players and tinkerers have been using midi and quantization for ions too, various looping techniques, musicians comp parts and solos all the time in recordings... I get it. But to pass off material you didn't actually play or write as your own?

I am guilty of using AI art for many thumbnails on SC and Audius, and often I tweak it further in PS to make me feel a little better haha. But if I were trying to sell something I'd make sure that was clear and noted.

This is future we have to look forward to if SkyNet® takes over music ..

I took that more as "He cannot be counted on in a professional setting"

Despite Beato's polarization, he's got a huge channel and I'd imagine his words carry more weight in the content creator/YouTuber world than they do on forums. Being that Jackoffmo's in the same content creating business, I can't see Beato's "he can't be trusted on a professional level" as anything less than a torpedo at the end of weeks of negative attention.

My hot take:
It's kinda hilarious to see the "fair use" crowd decry infringement of intellectual property.
Soo many youtube personalities have built their reach with "reaction videos" or "presenting" multitracks or "teaching" other people's music, it's not even funny.

There's a huge difference between giving a video lesson of a popular song or (in Beato's case) breaking down a song and analyzing what makes it a great song, and completely ripping off somebody else's music and claiming that it's your own.
