Weight, Does It Matter To You?

I have 2 strats between 9-9.5 lbs, and an old Artist that's heavier. Doesn't bother me!

Cutting out gluten and refined sugars will drop the weight for sure. And portion control.
So how do we put the guitars on a diet? I mean, why should we have to be the ones losing weight? Router diet maybe? Has anybody thought about lighter gauge strings to take some weight off? Or maybe smaller frets! You could always take off the tuner buttons and keep a vice grips in the guitar strap holder for the same ;~))

Eight pounds is my "don't let that fatty strap on to you" magic number. I can handle stuff over that (like my MM Stingray Bass), but after a couple of hours, it starts diggin' into my neck and shoulder, which then has me thinking about it and interferes with my playing. A couple of new straps on the way that might help. They are padded which will be a first for me, with the exception of my Stingray strap, so this may allow me to enjoy more, my couple of almost 8lb'rs (though I am pretty much 100% on my new PRS JA-15 which I can wear all day - fingers will wear out long before anything else with that <6lb beauty)!!!

I used to own an all mahogany double neck. After that, anything normal is lightweight.

My lightest guitar is a pine body Tele.

The only time I’d care about weight would be a “bring everywhere guitar”, which would likely be a headless as well. They’re usually in the 4 pound range, unless it’s a fucking Kiesel boat anchor.

I definitely prefer a lighter. 3.2kg to 3.5kg, or 7lb to 7lb 12oz, is my preferred range.

I do have a Les Paul that's 4.4kg, which isn't bad, but I definitely feel the difference over time. I think Les Pauls carry their weight better than longer guitars like a Strat or a Tele, though.

But balance is more important. I don't think I could own a guitar that had neck dive, or would fall off my knee if I didn’t hold it.

I think that is the heaviest Gretsch I have ever heard of.

Yeah, it's a lowly Chinese one from the early days. But it's just so good. The neck's chunky in just the right way, and it's got so much low mid punch/ coherence/ density, no matter what pickups are in it, and I love the way it attacks when you dig in. I bought a lighter one but me heart was with the big lass so @Snags bought the lighter one from me, it's like... 8lbs? Something like that. He's possibly got the lightest one on the planet.

Here's mine just before a radio thing last week

I've always loved those, especially in that colour.

What's the deal with fiat drivers?

I think thats going to depend on the country. A Fiat driver in Europe is different than one in the US and especially Canada. I think they only sell the 500e in North America and its pretty useless outside city/suburban metro use. It's also not marketed much if at all, so it attracts a unique buyer. Very different than in Europe.

Thanks for the serious explanation to my joke lol. But perfectly explained; in my area they're similar to BMW drivers in terms of reputation. And they're indeed all Fiat 500 drivers.

Thanks. That made no sense. People who don't follow traffic rules in the UK are primarily audi and BMW drivers. I'm an audi driver who actually knows how to use an indicator.
