Weight, Does It Matter To You?

Cutting out gluten and refined sugars will drop the weight for sure. And portion control.
So how do we put the guitars on a diet? I mean, why should we have to be the ones losing weight? Router diet maybe? Has anybody thought about lighter gauge strings to take some weight off? Or maybe smaller frets! You could always take off the tuner buttons and keep a vice grips in the guitar strap holder for the same ;~))

Eight pounds is my "don't let that fatty strap on to you" magic number. I can handle stuff over that (like my MM Stingray Bass), but after a couple of hours, it starts diggin' into my neck and shoulder, which then has me thinking about it and interferes with my playing. A couple of new straps on the way that might help. They are padded which will be a first for me, with the exception of my Stingray strap, so this may allow me to enjoy more, my couple of almost 8lb'rs (though I am pretty much 100% on my new PRS JA-15 which I can wear all day - fingers will wear out long before anything else with that <6lb beauty)!!!

I used to own an all mahogany double neck. After that, anything normal is lightweight.

My lightest guitar is a pine body Tele.
