We need to talk about the 2000's (Hahahah)

I know Chad Kroger had a lot to do with Theory Of A Deadman, I believe he’s written/produced with them. Kroger was also working with Ian Thornley back then, they’ve written with each other quite a bit and Chad probably had a hand in getting him signed to Roadrunner.

While that whole Creed/Nickelback train was going on, the NWOAHM was occurring and I was an avid passenger of that train.

On the first 3 or 4 albums Nickelback actually had some very nice and heavy riffage.

I wasn‘t a fan of the NWOAHM/Metalcore thing, though. I wanted to like it because it was basically a modernized version of the Gothemburg sound. But to me it always kinda felt soulless and formulaic compared to the emotional depth of a band like At The Gates.

I never really dug Metallica, either. My drummer buddy was into them starting with RTL, but I guess I was just never wired to respond favorably to aggressive music. Priest and Maiden were as hard as it got for me, and even Painkiller was pushing it.
I'll always be a Tallica fanboy but that album sucks donkey hairy balls.... Mrtallica is good up too black album..... After that they became pop rock band,,,, I like crazy and fast music.

I like Maiden and some of Priest....

thiss is tha pain killer.......

Thing is Ramo, Metallica is no longer a band rather they became a brand :bag

Their Last tour was really good though played a lot of the classics and they can still rock
And man what a production it was

If it wasn't for Sum 41 in the 2000s, my opinion of Metallica would have remained as "That cowboy rock band that sued Napster"

I was really into Sum 41 back in the early 2000s. They had a lot of videos of them doing dumb BS similar to the CKY crew that was popular at the time so it appealed to a young degenerate vandal such as myself. Their pop-punk was tinged with metal and they let a lot of their thrash influence show with the album Does This Look Infected?

I read an interview where Sum 41 said a few of the songs on that album were directly influenced by MoP-era Metallica so I got into it. Up until then the only Metallica I knew was a few songs from Black Album, Load, and Reload. Boy was I suprised when I heard Battery for the first time.
