Wah-Wah

@James Freeman Buddah Budwah is another great one, that was a mainstay on my board for years. Come to think of it that's one pedal I still own that I haven't ever done a demo of.

I've owned the standard crybaby, the 535Q, Vox wah, Carl Martin 2Wah and a Behringturd wah. They've each for their own character and they're easy enough to modify too.

Big fan of the budwah. It's purple, sounds great and has really good quality parts Inside. Win, win, win.

Budwah on the left, gcb95 on the right. The budwah is using Panasonic film caps, Panasonic electrolytic caps and fairchild transistors. It's nice the jacks are off board too. Much easier to repair if there's a problem.

Got my Vox V846-HW

It was dead on arrival, no sound when engaged.
Luckily I am experienced and could find the problem; the emitter resistor of the first transistor was not connected to ground due to poor solder joint, I re-flowed this connection on the back of the board and it came to life.

Sounds nothing special but cool to experience the simplicity of this classic two transistor wah circuit.

I do love turret board and carbon comps. They don't sound any better but they look cool. Also jacks off the main board is always good.

The HELLBABE is an overlooked and very underrated pedal .
It has no moving parts to wear out 👍
I’ve had one for years and it works brilliantly when needed 👍

Is the 535q switchless with spring return?
That's the 95Q that you want

However, it's not really switchless. There's a mini switch under the heel the engages when the heel goes up.

I switched to those after using the Bad Horsie II for a long time because I can't stand switching a Wah on/off manually.

For the record, I had no problem with the sweep of the Morley... But I wanted to try the more traditional Crybaby and once I learned about the 95Q I had to take the chance.

Bad Horsie wahs are so all over the place. The OG is super subtle iirc, the II is INSANELY bright. I have the Maverick which I like a lot as well as the Tremonti which is "just right" bright. Ill have to give that 95Q a go some time.

I don't recall it being bright... And that's something I'm sensitive to.

However, I've been full Fractal since 2013 and used the 95Q for 4-5 years so it's been close to 20 years now.

I probably also used the Contour mode to dial in the frequency to my liking.

Maybe I'm misrembering it but i distinctly recall feeling like my ears were getting ripped off the first time I went to use it   It was a long while ago.
