Valeton GP-5

Really appreciate that, cheers. Have a gp5 on the way in and just starting to dip my toes into the NAM rabbit hole.

Which would you suggest to start with from yourself, I'm more to the clean and eob end of things. Have been using Tonex for a while but not NAM.
All my packs try to cover clean to mean settings (all but the Chupacabra lol and some of the very metal stuff like the Salvation Unnamed and Camerock).

You can try the Badlander packs since they have quite a lot of clean & blues/EoB profiles in them.

The PRS MT100 as well which has that OVERDRIVE (orange) channel spec-ed out to Mark Tremonti's actual Dumble amplifier.

The Marshall Modified 2203 JCM800 pack also has some EoB / clean stuff using the Low Sensitivity input.

And you might just love the PRS Archon Classic 50 pack I put out in summer - that one's a sleeper of an amp. Zach Wish has a great demo of it & some of the profiles in that pack were dialed in to match the settings he showcases in the vids.

Hope this helps.

Super helpful, thanks 👍🏻

Super helpful, thanks 👍🏻
Anytime!

Since the Badlander pack was released last year, I publish an Excel list with all the knobs / settings for each profile in a pack.

The file is linked in the description of the pack (it's a Mega.nz link).

You can use that list to navigate the pack & zoom-in on the stuff you want; maybe you just want the Clean channel of an amp or going for a specific Youtuber demo vid settings since I list the inspiration for the profiles as well (I put a considerable amount of time into researching settings, reviews etc of an amp before I actually start reamping).

I'm finding a lot of nam stuff to be quite quiet, am I missing something here?

Also @2dor thanks for your stuff, trying out the archon using telecaster deluxe and the cleans are quite gritty. Is this due to humbuckers? And should I be using DI if going to power amp and cab?

Until Valeton fix their conversion (in fact, a fast’n dirty recapture), I don’t see the point of adding a « better NAM » support.
If Valeton provided something like ANN sinco Mvave.
Or fixed their strange EQ curve.
But no new firmware coming. And the last one crashed some devices (1.0.6 if I remember well).
Gp-50 use the same engine than gp5.
So no cab with snaptone.

Good news : GP100 was updated recently.
And you can snaptone AND load cab 😉
You can find them for less than 100 euros second hand.

Being able to use a capture AND an IR would be a huge leap forward for GP-5/50 users, even if they still "translated" the source NAM captures.

Any news on A2 NAM coming to the Valeton GP devices?

I'm actually not sure whether the CPU architecture of the GPs is even made to run NAM, regardless of the DSP demands. My bet would be "no".

They could disable some blocks to free IR cab one.
Or at least provide a SOFTWARE capture / recapture instead of stealth NAM loader.
You could add your own IR in the process, change learning signal, post set gain Eq …

M vave / sinco is doing that with their ANN format.
And Mooer too with Ge labs, for more than 5 years.
