This is the elephant in the room for most people.

Ok people… I’ve decided that 2025 is going to be the year of music theory. I dabbled a little when I first picked up the guitar, but it’s been learning and playing by ear the majority of my time playing.

I learn better hands-on and with visuals rather than sitting in front of staff paper, looking at little black dots. What’s the equivalent of “Music Theory for Dummies?”
I struggled with the circle of fifths for a bit.
When I started thinking outside the box a little, came up with a tower of fifths and everything magically made sense.

If you're good with your guitar neck, know your intervals and build triads and more in your head.

Back in class we'd call out triads. Individual notes that make up the triad.
Then its easy to color from there with 7, 9, 11...

Piano keyboard makes it a bit more straightforward having it all laid out in order.

But then again who am I to say?
I can't seem to get a good, profitable, focused self practice together for a bit now...

Sorry to ramble...
