We "Americans" just appropriate the good stuff. Mostly.

I think the only truly-original American contributions to the culinary world are artificial products that kinda taste and look like food, but can sit on a shelf or battlefield for 1700 years and outlast the longevity of sequoia trees and sea turtles.
