I might've breathed too much poly fumes today.
I did try to buy one years ago, but they wouldn't take my offer. Guess it cut too far into Trooch's pocket. (Where I could be found swingin on his nutz.)

Some people are gonna roll their eyes, but I love my SD-1. Much cheaper than a TS-808, seemingly more output (enough for me surely) and the best part is the footswitch. I admit that I don't exert much pressure with my feet while on stage but I don't have to worry even if I am wearing high heels!

If I had the money for it, I would buy the pedal whose pic I am mentioning below. I fell in love with it after watching the demos.

I think it is supposed to be a double plexi inspired JFET based preamp. They were made by Paul Trombetta along with a 4-plex and a bunch of other plex variants.

That's the closest Google hit I could get on Deuxplex, yeah. But JT's "trumpet" comment threw me off the the trail. I thought maybe there was some kind of guitar synth/ slow gear effect going on. No? Just oodles of gain?

This humble little chap, however, has been on pretty much every board I've built since I first bought it, because unlike it's stablemate the MojoMojo, it doesn't seem to be at all picky about the amp in use, and you can always find a useable sound out of it.

here's a blip using the Brother's words:

Inspired by vintage solid-state studio microphone pre’s from the 70s and 80s, the 228 PRE is a unique design tuned for guitar using a discrete transistor topology.

The two gain controls, INPUT GAIN and OUTPUT GAIN both change the feel and character of the signal, giving a responsive feel under the fingers. The 228 PRE enhances the guitar tone like a great overdrive can, but without clipping the signal. Its like an overdrive for your clean tone.

Using the gentle-slope HF (high frequency) and LF (low frequency) controls, the signal can be shaped to suit the amp and other pedals in the chain. Slight adjustments can make your tone fat and responsive, or make some more extreme adjustments to use the 228 PRE boosting the midrange into an overdrive. Everything from full range to treble boosting is available with these controls.

Sound way cooler than Walrus with their: ”oh hey, we just made a pedal out of an old film projector preamp because someone said that sounds cool so you all will think it sounds cool… because yeah, it’s cool”

Reminds me if one of my favorites from Origin Effects, DCX Boost, based on the UA 610 preamp.

The Cali76 Stacked compressor and RevivalDRIVE compact are equally mojotastic.
