The NDSP Nano Cortex…

It sounds like this is pretty much what "everyone" was hoping for from an update!
Having overdrives available makes this so much more usable for me, it was my biggest gripe with the unit until now.
And compressors. And global defeat IRs. Plus... more effects.

I agree with you 100% but to be honest even if they had added only overdrives I would have been pretty happy being mainly a high gain player.
But to reiterate - I completely agree with you - more is more :D

Am way out of the loop on the NC ...... is it only a "Capture Player" ? -or- does it come with some modeled amps ? -and- how many blocks at once ?

Thanks :)

Does it work on the principle of "blocks" ie: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 etc..... a max. number ?
Spot on - something in that vein. I don't know the specifics as I don't own one but I know it didn't come with a drive block at launch & effect variety was very limited. Looks like they fixed that today.

Some Googling said 7 Blocks (?)

It does seem like a -massive- update :)

Do we know yet if there are still dedicated pre/post blocks or is it now any effect in any block in any order ?

Still fixed to Pre & Post blocks by the looks of it.

Yeah that's a great update. The Nano Cortex finally starts to have some actual value for money to it.

There's some interesting caveats to the new fx tho. You can't have modulation or delay fx in the "pre" slots, only "post" slots for example.

So if it is 7 x Blocks in total ...... is it something like 3 x pre slots and 4 x post slots ?

It's 2x pre slots and 3x post slots.

Seems you have to sacrifice a pre slot if you want a noise gate or volume pedal. So you can't do e.g Gate - Wah - Drive, but have to pick two.

EDIT: There is an input gate. The gate block is just if you want something different for the gate.

For post fx, it's:
  • Slot 1: Doubler or modulation
  • Slot 2: Delay
  • Slot 3: Reverb
