The Mark V is cool... but.....

I had a jam with one of my best mates today. He just bought a Rockerverb MKII 100-watter and an Orange 4x12 cab for cheaaaappsss.... so I was curious how my MKIII sounded next to the MKII. So I thought.... take it... give it a quick A/B, then revert over to the Mark V.

Anyway, so I didn't use the Mark V at all.

Orange was siiiiiicccckkkk. Boosted it with the Klon model on the VP4. It sounded glorious. Absolutely fucking tampin' Welshington glorious!!

I LOVED the Mk I RV100 I had. I'd love to pick up another one again and compare it to my current amps, because back in the day, it was my favorite high gain British voiced amp. I used to be a big Mark fan, but I've owned a few lately and just haven't found them exciting at all. Great amps, but I don't feel inspired to play on them

Loooooooaaaddddssssss of bands that I love use Matamps and Oranges, and I've always loved that sound.

I bought my Orange in 2016 and have thought on and off about selling it, but I'm really glad I didn't. It is just A BIG BALLER thing!!

It's just different.

If you're like me, you play something for a while, be it a pedal, amp, anything that has a great tone, then you play something else that also sounds fabulous, and so it goes. I think, wow, that sounds better! Nah, it's just something different for your ears.

Play that for a while, then switch back, and I bet the same thing happens.

Just various flavors of awesomeness.

I bought my Mark V brand new in 2009, the serial number is somewhere in the mid 300s. I’m definitely a Boogie kinda guy. And Marshall. Everything else can just fuck off.

Ironically when I sold the first mark V I owned years ago, I used the proceeds tk buy an orange thunderverb 50 and a block letter 5150


The thunderverb was a badass amp but I net regret that trade


I love orange

I love marks

And I can’t think of two amps further apart from each other in vibe lol.

It’s like comparing apples to Lego sets
