NAD: Mesa Mark V:90 1x12 combo

I've had some difficulty getting used to the character of the amp. It always sounds more dry than the Marshall based rigs I've had so high gain doesn't sound and feel like I'm used to.

Until I notice I can easily get infinite sustain for single notes.

thats so funny- ive heard people say that about marks, but they seem so squishy to me  but i like hiwatts, so theres that. theres SO much gain- but compared to like a 6505 (which to me is entirely unusably overgained), i could see that. those things are splorkfestivals.

Adventures with Mark V combo continue.

I tried the Petrucci settings I posted in the other Mesa thread, and they worked pretty well with the combo.
I think I like the tones I get better if I push the sliders up more like Petrucci does, but leave the channel volumes lower than I had before and increase the output knob more.

I feel like channel 2 in Crunch mode could really use that unused half of the V2 tube. I wish Mesa had put that behind a switch. Shame nobody has figured a mod to add it in.

I tried using my Strymon Riverside as a boost on ch2 and that worked wonders. It can really help add some more Marshall style saturation into Crunch mode that the Mesa doesn't quite do on its own. The Riverside's "mid push" switch in particular works really great.

Oh well, there's always channel 3. That sounds just excellent in MKIV mode.
