Discussion thread for amp models of the Dual Rectifier. I'll kick things off with some comparisons. So many Rectifier emulations suck ass so I'm just trying to involve the ones that I think bring something to the table. I have a rev G, not all these models are based on the same revision. I don't really care as long as they sound good. Despite the fact that most Recto emulations aren't great, there's been some better ones recently. Very very fiddly to try and match so I may well go over these at any point.

I can do the same thing with the multi watt at some point.

No Agoura version. I still dig it boosted and sculpted up with an eq block \m/
Yeah the old one is pretty solid, it'll be the same as using the plugin. It has some of that Helix fizz IMO, and there's also a thing I notice Helix is prone to on high gain where you hear a quick zappy sound in the tail after transients. Some plugins do it too, and some more than others. Often in comparisons if I hear that I can be pretty confident it's Helix. I was really battling it on this one in the palm mute riff. I still think the Helix Recto is one of the better ones out there and it gets pretty damn close.

For me, Fractal wins this comparison quite clearly. I didn't like Mercuriall at all; there's some kind of noise accompanying it, like a rumbling or something. The Helix model doesn't sound great to my ears either. It has that strange woody hardness that is so typical for older Helix models.

Killer Recto tones! Which one of your IRs are you using?
Thanks man. Same as in the Diezel and 5150 threads but I might have moved the mic position a tiny bit.

The SIC options with the fractal models are huge with the Recto. Really makes me want to get a Mesa OS cab.
So much this. I’d love to know more about the actual cabs the SIC’s are derived from as I’m not quite sure what causes the various Mesa ones to sound different. This one seemed to sound closer to my oversized cab here, but it’s hard to be sure with so many variables. I also think it’s a big reason why fractal can get closer than the rest.

And yep, you need a Mesa cab in your life. There’s an argument to their Oversize (and to an extent Trad) cabs being on par with as legendary as any of the amps they’ve ever made. They really landed on something special.

As someone who has owned a lot of rectos over the years, the Fractal Recto red 1 and the Nalex Pectifier are the closest I’ve heard to the real deal. The Nalex Pectifier VST with the Mercurial Grid Slammer copy overdrive in front of it with a good Ownhammer or ML impulse after is a serious metal tone.

Want to include it in the comparison? Its been a while since I used it (no AAX) but I dont remember being able to make it quite sound like my amp.

I have yet to try the QC matching but I was able to run the same DI and IR with my Single Rectifier for science (same settings for Vintage and Modern, just changed the output levels because Modern is louder):

I know it's a different model entirely and shouldn't be compared 1:1, but I'm happy with how it compares to its big brother!

Did you delete any of the Recto captures you put up on the cloud?
I can`t upload ( to cloud ) a preset I made with the captures today. I was going to share it with you

I might have by accident I was in there yesterday lol - I just booted it up and resent it to the cloud! Can you try downloading it again? PM if you have an issue.

Super useful thread! It's really hard to find a model that sounds as raw as a real Rev G. Have you tested the Neural version too?

I'll be doing that this week, I'm just a bit busier than normal. I wanna tackle that beast without stuff on my plate to distract me lol
