The Circle Guitar

That’s terrible 🤣🤡

Actually pretty damn cool. I think it costs like 10k though, and it seems like more of a gimmick you pull out for a song or two.

As said in the predictions thread already, I can't imagine much reallife scenarios where this would be a useful thing for me as what I enjoy the most is playing live without any net. Hence, no sequencing or clicktracks on stage. That's something this thing simply won't be able to do properly as the core functionality, namely the "picking wheel" depends on whatever clock input.
Tap tempo certainly won't do it once you're playing with a band even remotely deviating from one base BPM value. And even if you were playing with a click, tap tempo defenitely isn't accurate enough.
As a pretty much direct result, the Circle Guitar will only work in an environment where it's constantly receiving tempo information from wherever. Hence, for any live performance, you will defenitely need some sort of sequencer to deliver at least MIDI clock. And it even seems to be made to only display its full potential once it's receiving some more information than just that, which is why there's Ableton Live running all the time in the videos.
I'm sure it'd make up for an incredible recording tool in case you're into whatever "fresh" options, though.
However, for me it's way too expensive just for that purpose.

Why?? It’s so bad it’s not even funny.

Why not clock sync strumming to grooveboxes, synths and effects while using both hands to fret the fingerboard? Why not use it to play physically impossible rhythmic sounds? Why not indeed?

It isn’t funny if you’re knowing or willing to take it seriously. It’s useless for playing Mustang Sally. It’s awesome for creating stuff that nobody ever heard before. Today, music needs more than ever new gear to turn the page. Guitars originally did just that 7 decades ago. New guitar designs can do the same now.

I’ll give them an A for originality and execution. Looks like a very niche product, but at least they’re pushing boundaries instead of releasing yet another Strat or Tele copy.

It totally bullshit. It’s incredibly limited.
