ED being the short hand for an amp that needs a boost is perfect!
But that white alligator tolex…

Haha! I concur! It's special.
That said, amps ain't for looking pretty, but for sounding mean.

Oops, I just searched for a thread on ED on any forums and… well… I blame you for what I found.Pretty sure there is not a 70 page thread on the ED and growing either.

Sometimes finances and room/storage prohibit that option??
ED is a cool amp, but it can't hold a candle to a Mark, in my experience.

electradynes are awesome! i still like them more than marshalls.. and not being a metal guy, i just found that amp pretty close to the perfect marshall! no boost for me! ive only played one once through a road king cabinet and it left a mark. (pun intended)

You’re not wrong and I’ve said since I got it that I believed it’s Mesa’s version of a Plexi/800, but too tame in comparison to an actual Marshall circuit. While the low end is obviously more than any Marshall has ever had, it doesn’t really do the clanging kerrang Marshall thing or sound quite as aggressive with more dirt, it’s like a refined Marshall, I suppose, but that kind of removes the thing about Marshalls that makes them Marshalls.
I’m writing all this while acknowledging that I WON’T turn the amp on later on today to make sure I’m not going to miss it when it’s gone, because I know myself; I’ll find 2 tones that I’ll rarely ever want to use and justify keeping the amp for them.![]()
