Haha! I concur! It's special. :chef

That said, amps ain't for looking pretty, but for sounding mean.

electradynes are awesome! i still like them more than marshalls.. and not being a metal guy, i just found that amp pretty close to the perfect marshall! no boost for me! ive only played one once through a road king cabinet and it left a mark. (pun intended)

Hahahah I started writing another post about how I do feel a little bad moving that head when I’ll most certainly never see another one like it, but it’d be better off being owned by someone who uses it and I’ll just hold onto the memory of the time I owned a Cocaine Alligator. :rofl

I ordered a Power Stage last night in an effort to stop myself from overthinking and changing plans again. It’s definitely the ‘two birds stoned at once’ option right now as I want to play my Plexi through cabs, with an effects loop and I want a tube power section for the Fractal stuff. I’m still going to list the ED as I expect it to sit around for a long ass time, the guy I bought it from had it sitting at $1000 for a year before he offered it to me for $600 or $700 just to get rid of it.

You’re not wrong and I’ve said since I got it that I believed it’s Mesa’s version of a Plexi/800, but too tame in comparison to an actual Marshall circuit. While the low end is obviously more than any Marshall has ever had, it doesn’t really do the clanging kerrang Marshall thing or sound quite as aggressive with more dirt, it’s like a refined Marshall, I suppose, but that kind of removes the thing about Marshalls that makes them Marshalls.

I’m writing all this while acknowledging that I WON’T turn the amp on later on today to make sure I’m not going to miss it when it’s gone, because I know myself; I’ll find 2 tones that I’ll rarely ever want to use and justify keeping the amp for them. :rofl

man.. i love the brattiness of marshalls (even though i dont have any), but i dunno if i agree with ya about that amp not being able to deliver that snarky bitey gnarl! my buddy was with me who plays a jmp 100 watter and we were both like .. damn.. thats a good marshall!

but i hear ya- i dime out presence circuits and turn my treble up to GET that on any amp- and they dont always deliver what i want. i think you might be right- the generalities are there but it was a prettier glossier beast- maybe why even when i abused its eq it still sounded classy  if i cant make an amp sound too bright, its either just right, or broken
