I had one of the early, leather wrapped Tremoverb 212 combos as soon as they came out. It was a FANTASTIC amp, and served me as my #1 for about a decade, until my son decided he wanted to use it with his band. Sadly, a tech modded it to have a bias adjustment - without asking my permission - and it never sounded the same. I don't know if he did it right or not, but we wound up selling the amp and replacing it with a Stiletto (my son's choice at the time; he was about 13-14).

I also had the Blue Angel and the Maverick, as well as some other Mesa amps. Loved 'em all. The closest I could come to what I loved about the Tremoverb's OD tone was - surprisingly - a Two-Rock Onyx; I bought one as soon as I heard it, but that's a digression.

Would I buy a reissue Tremo? Possibly! But I'd also be interested in a '90s reissue Dual Rec since the Tremo was based on it and I rarely used the Tremolo feature.

I guess I'm kinda going on and on here. But...there's something about playing Mesa amps (and a few others) that's usually 'just right' for the stuff I do - and as previously mentioned, I'm not a high gain player. The amps simply 'sing' and are easy for me to play. I need that more than ever now that I'm getting on in years and my hands have some nerve damage that slows me down quite a bit. With more sustain I can play fewer notes in a given measure and kinda get away with it.

The Mark models even existing in Fractal land are exactly why I’m not buying a Mark IV, V, VII or JPIIC+ right now and opting for a Power Stage instead. As much as I’d love to look across the room at a nice shiny Mark head, I also REALLY want to use my Plexi through an actual cab at a reasonable volume and with post-effects, there’s only one way to get these birds stoned at once!

If I didn’t want a Tele at the same time I’d probably just go for a Mark…..and if one pops up locally for under $2K I may not be able to hold off the temptation (for a Mark, not a Tele)!

Maybe I should try selling my Electra Dyne and 50-watt EVH, neither are getting used right now and the funds from those would cover a Mark or a Tele…..hmmmm….

Electra-Dyne is cool but for me; it needed some dirt to get where I wanted. EVH could be hard to let go as it is just super useful and one that does a great basic high gain sound without even trying. A good one to keep in the stable.

I’m considering selling my testicle to cover a single rec.

Yeah, the ED is definitely a pedal platform and at this point, all the tones I’d want to get out of it can be found in the Plexi. Much agreed on the EVH, but it’s another amp I’m just not using right now. Even if I were to record a metal tune, I’d end up using my Fractal anyway. The only reason I’d use the EVH right now is if I had a gig to play and that’s because it’s a tube power section.

I think I’ll start by listing the ED while I debate the EVH. Those 50-watt heads are starting to be a bit ubiquitous used and I wouldn’t want to liquidate it just to move it.
