Season 8 - Week 6

Season 8 Week 5 takes anπŸš‘ over the finish line! Only 3 submits in week 5, and I am certainly in part to blame as I contributed absolutely nothing!! Thanks to @Alex Kenivel and @Whizzinby for keepin' it alive!!!

Hopefully we are all ready to hit and submit our recordings for Week 6 ;~)) That said, 116 new pieces of music so far this Challenge, so certainly something to be proud of! We now only need 38 entries to tie the previous Challenge Season record and 39 to set a new record ;~)) And we have 3 weeks to do it!! Let's shatter that record (that is less than 3 submits total over the course of 3 weeks for each of our 15 participants so far this season, so one per week from each of us for the next 3 weeks and we have a new record)!!!

I sure hope the Champ is OK! Have not heard from him in some time!! But don't let that stop YOU, get to work ;~))

Here is a print screen of the spreadsheet for S8W5:

Looking forward to seeing > numbers for week six ;~)) Remember to put your tags (#cover-song, #original-song, #hot-noodle or #collab) in your submission posts. It helps me to do checks on the number of submits. If you see any mistakes in the numbers, do let me know and I will correct as quickly as I can!

OK, now do it! Now make some noise you girls and boys!!

It's pretty quiet in here, so I'll just spam my latest video :sofa

This one is a generative ambient piano piece. The Oxi One sequencer is doing a lot of heavy lifting here: the matriceal sequencer mode gives you 4 extremely customisable tracks and in addition I'm using the random perform feature to randomize note velocity. I'm just scratching the surface of what is possible with the Oxi One, it's incredibly deep.

Punch that bell icon in the knob, give the old like and subscribe a good hard lick and help me reach 100 000 subscribers by tomorrow!

More experimental stuff. I've been on a synth kick lately just to change it up and get some different ideas going.
There is some feedback guitar though.:grin

Finally had a listen, this is awesome! Felt like riding a motorcycle through a dystopian neon city

By request and advice from member α›—α›œα›œαšΊDα›œαŽΆ α”α›¨αš³αš΄ I hereby allow my self to enter your challenge thread with my new tune. A Hurdy Gurdy Electro ride in 5/4. It is not that unusual meter in scandinavian folk, so I can easily dance to it. Can you?

If it is hard to twist your body out of the 4/4 and into 5/4, try shift from heel to heel on 5 and 1 respectively: 1 Heel-2-3-4-5 Heel-1 Heel -2-3-4-5 Heel-1 Heel etc.

When it sits there, try to feel the subdivisions (ten 1/8) by swaying your body to them. If you get it, you should be able to expand the heels yourself and make some nice moves with the rest of your body.

Kindly
Gothi

Hey Gothi;

Could you do me a favor and put a #tag in your post. I ask that people put a #tag in the post of one of four categories:
#original-song
#cover-song
#hot-noodle (jam or something that is not a song but you would like to share)
#collab (short for collaboration)

This helps me double check my counts at the end of each week and season to ensure I have not missed something!

For additional info on this #tagging and why we do it, you can refer to the Season 8 launch thread (item #4 in the numbered list of the first post) if you want to read up on it ;~))

Cheers and thanks again for joining the Challenge!!

Hi again
I jut read the β€œrules” and this:

6. Tell us about it! What gear you used and your motivations, deepest desires and dirty secrets, you perv…

Well, it was a test tune for my newly aquired Open Labs Miko TSE. Had to see if that Timbaland signature was worth it. Runs Win Xp with an old version of Reaper and 32 bit plugins only. So I scanned an old hardisk and the net for old payware, magware and freeware and stuffed it in there till I was sure I could do anything I wanted and more. And it went well. In ten years I cannot remember on which sw of hw workstations I made the tunes. It all sounds like Tribe of Hofund whether I work ITB or OTB. It also makes my presence in any hardware vs software debate idiotic, but I cannot help it, they are as entertaining as they are pointless to me.

Deepest desires: That my bandmate would be able to play his guitar again, so I do not have to use samplers and strum machines instead. I picked him up in 2019 after being apart for about thirty years. He lived a miserable life but could still play classical guitar then. I started visiting him every month where we would jam, me on a Korg Karma with all 4 arps in my left hand and leads in my right, him on his old guitar. We sounded like an orchestra and had great fun. He became better. In 2021 something happened with our jamming, it became a mix of styles we like, and with a bang Tribe of Hofund was born. That was indeed the deal for us, mixing electro, folk and classical. We had a musical identity I had been searching for all my life. Yay. But in the beginning of 2023 he became sick and attached to an oxygen machine. He has not been better since, so now he can only add ideas if he has the strength, and then I fix it with machines. To get him back would mean a lot.

Secrets: I love rhythms, had an afroamerican percussion teacher who taught me the coolest secrets of native drumming. I can play various percussion, but I cannot play the friggin drum set. We had to choose at music school and I chose percussion. Don’t put me on drum throne, you will surely regret it.

Kindly
Gothi
