Well there it is, Season 8 Week 2 is in the books! Twenty-seven submits in week 2, and although not as hot as Week 1 of this season, nevertheless a number to be proud of (at least for the participants) ;~))

Shout out to returning participant @AminorZmajor last seen in Season 1! Thanks for hopping back on the Challenge Train ;~))

The Reigning Champ is showing no mercy and still in the lead with 7 entries this week! Paging David, Goliath on aisle 2!!

How do you get that type of tone? I'm trying to make something with more sustain for something I'm working on.

I record DI into Reaper.

Then I re-amp the guitars into amps I have.

The rhythm are always run into my home-built JCM800

This pic was from when I installed a passive loop. This allows me to run the preamps I have into the JCM800 power section, while bypassing the stock preamp.


I have a Ceriatone AH-50 I built a while back for other "gainier" tones.

From the amp(s) I go into a home-built reactive load, based on Randall Aiken's designs.

Once signal goes from this device into my audio interface (Scarlett 2i2) and into my DAW (Reaper) I mix individual tracks to my taste.

I use Steven Slate drums 5.5 and I use a SansAmp bass preamp.


I use this on every track I recorded since last August.

Well I have clearly failed considering you have contributed NOTHING to Season 8! I guess you must not be a cat, so I will try howl next to see if that works ;~))

I am not confident it is going to work, but one good howl deserves another ;~))
