Synergy Owners Thread

Looks like it only works in Synergy hosts - not in old Randall RM or Egnater MTS stuff..

The JCM800 module will only work in SYNERGY hosts (SYN-1, SYN-2, SYN-20IR, SYN-30, SYN-50).

IT WILL NOT WORK IN ANY OTHER HARDWARE FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS.

Something like a chunky Gamecube size amp would be cool :satan

It has the zero watt poweramp and a phase inverter, so it is more than just a preamp. It is basically a full JCM800 amp without the power tubes.
Still not seeing much point, especially considering I have a BE-50 Deluxe, and Synergy has about half of their lineup as Marshall based modules already.

The JCM module looks cool. Sounds cool. Not anywhere near enough to upend my gear life to make it happen. MP-1 is even more dead in the water fodder for my interests as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The V4 and upcoming Orange are enticing but I have all the other amps that have modules that catch my eye. AKA we actually have a Rectifier and Mark(s) at home so what are you even looking at these for? :rofl

Synergy is kind of like web browsers, where you can find tons of browsers so long as you want them all Chromium based. Synergy has tons of modules so long as you want half of them to be Marshall based.

So this is the same tech BAD does for Tone King in their Royalist and Imperial pedals. Phase inverter and 0 watt power section.

Which makes me wonder why though. The Synergy Power amps all have some kind of power amp presence and resonance controls but I guess this is to have a PI and NFB section more faithful to the JCM800 and not just generic module amp power amp controls.
The JCM800 doesn't have a huge ton of preamp gain without driving it into poweramp distortion (where the phase inverter adds extra gain) so I'm guessing this is their attempt at making it sound more authentic in a sense.

I'm guessing making so many Marshall-based models is not only to make good use of the official license, but because they have to do relatively small changes to reap big rewards.

They have removed the original Synergy branded Plexi and 800 modules from the website too, so these are going to replace those.

I don’t think my Engl and Soldano are Marshall based but hey if we all liked the same soup there would only be tomato.
Both companies make amps that are absolutely Marshall based.

If you take the JCM800, alter the cold clipper and add extra cascaded gain stages you end up with a Soldano SLO.

I'm not super familiar with different ENGLs but I think all of them are going to start from something JCM800-ish.

That doesn't mean they don't end up with a unique voice of their own, but I'd wager probably like 90% of high gain amps out there started their life as a JCM800 circuit.
