Synergy Owners Thread

I'm trying to dcide between a few options for my next module:
OS
Z Wreck
T-DLX

I already have the Tone King Imperial Pre to do the Delux-ish kinda thing. So I'm leaning OS and Z Wreck because They're a different flavor of low and mid gain. Also will get either Fryette module if I see something below new price.

I have a Z Wreck Jr head. It’s a spectacular amp! I am very curious how the Synergy compares with the zero-Watt amp thing.
It’s pretty raunchy and does that thing around 6-7 on master and regular volumes where it just opens up and gets just beautiful sounding harmonics through and through!

Because it was asked to post more examples.
This is the Vai module with the bogner powerstage from a spydervalve. Still waiting for the engl ;)

Captor x with BHG Vai cabs in Genome

Hope you enjoy this one too
I just record for fun so don't be too harsh ;)

So here is my short roundup of the 3 modules I've purchased in the last few weeks

JMP - really cool sound and covers a lot ground
Drect - really fun module - really responds to my style of playing.
Killer Kali - compared to the BE DLX - it is overly complex for the type of sound you it based on - I don't really like the sound of the bright switches (they sound quite peaky to me). If I didn't have the BE DLX then it might stay

So I'm going to return the Killer Kali for something else - not quite sure what yet but I feel like I want a cleanish blue and a dirty red style one - so maybe the Vai or maybe give the iicp a go again.

Not sure what tones you like
But if you have BE, Recto,JMP
I might go w DRZ It can give a clean shimmer on 1 and more breakup crunch on 2

DRZ is a good shout - i like the demos and from my understanding it is a homage to more Vox tones - which I don't have a module that does that.

If you liked the DRECT and KK but want something simper, try the Uberschall. If you like the IICP, but sold it, try the Pitbull, as you can get it to sound identical to the IICP and it has more EQ potential.

Agreed. I was a little shocked when I listened to my friend's Uber, on the lower gain modes/settings. I play clean to mean, (I don't currently use Synergy stuff), and I could easily get by with a clean channel and an Uber alone.

Any advice on which to buy next to the Vai module?

For a more beefy metal/rock rhythm sound.
Maybe the bogner ?

Not the bogner ecstasy - I think that would’ve too similar to the Vai module from what I’ve heard.

I can get good Vai tones from the ecstasy module.

Pete thorn has some good videos
And did like the bogner but indeed it was close to the Vai module although the Vai module seems to always add some "fuzz/hair" great for lead but with rhythm I find myself on the lowest gain settings. Which gives is a nice rock sound.

I gigged my Synergy 50w as a muffin top stack on my Port City O/S 1x12 and Mesa 1x12 on New Years Eve. Had the JMP and Bman module in it.

That JMP just sits in the mix perfectly, and combine with Axe-FX covered a pretty wide range. The heavy tones weren’t quite as aggressive as the Killer Kali gets, but I think they sit better in a live mix. Leads were thick and clear.

I’m considering doing a demo of my three core presets to show the range of tones I use for live shows and how well it integrates with the Axe-FX. One preset is set for a bit more modern tone with a drive pushing it harder and parametric EQ to add some girth, one is more natural Marshall pushed for more vintage hard rock gain, and the other uses the Bman for my main rhythm and lead tones with more of a low gain sound. Just a matter of finding time do it.

This made me laugh out loud pretty hard:

The difference is crazy... Seems like Synergy really solved the "boxy" issue with EL84 amps. However, the low end thunder of the big bottle/transformer amps of course is still not there. But what is there is nice and clear.

Thanks Jon. really eye opening. I mean ear opening.

Got the Powerball module mid December and it’s great. I like the old metal sound of the powerball and this one nails it.

Uber came in Friday and it’s another amazing module. I have not played a real one but this sounds so good. My favorite so far.

VH4 should get in tomorrow and I look forward to it but have never played the real amp.

Dynamically how do the Killer Kai and Uber compare?

I found the KK compressed (similar to be dlx)

I think I’m after a more dry dynamic metal tone.

Dynamic Dry sounds like the Ultra Lead.

The Uber has more of the smooth, tight, compressed type thing going on.

I find the Powerball pretty compressed also. The 6505 is similar to the Powerball, but not as compressed or mid congested.

Been running my Syn20ir with a Killer Kali via 4-cable method for about 6 months now. I love how flexible that module is.

I'm using the Syn20ir cleans, then a 'classic rock' tone in the green channel and a 'CHUG' tone in the red. The switches never move, but the knobs are constantly being monkeyed with, depending on the venue. Picking attack and dynamics are great.

My pedalboard is in constant flux, I have a few. Pics below
