Strymon BigSky MX

Real spaces are mostly ass. I'd rather have beautiful sounding reverbs
There’s so many reverbs already capable of doing both that it seems a bit redundant to compromise. IMO the lush beautiful long stuff is way easier to achieve, or at least more forgiving because you can purposefully mangle things in any number of ways

No it isn't. Ass reverbs are not beautiful. Also an ancient budget lexicon isn't even close to a real space. It's probably a lot less ass though.
I’m not talking about the budget ones.
Strymon stuff is king of ass together with the equally shit H90.

If you have a Ventris it probably doesn’t get better in a pedal, only different. I only use the RV500 because everything else is either the same or worse, plus analog dry .

I had a Ventris, really good. Not a huge fan of the interface though. I loved the Neunaber stereo Wet I had years ago, should have kept it.

@Orvillain cloudburst mode in the MX sounds like the standalone pedal. Pretty cool being able to stack in or out of it with Shimmer, or to run 2 instances together with different settings.

Personally I want a reverb to sound like natural reverb if I want it too.

Why in the world would anyone want "real spaces" in their guitar setups?
We don't even need to get to the point that some of the most iconic guitar sounds were recorded and mixed using spring reverbs, plates and what not, it's as well that the playback systems most people use, especially when not running things in stereo, don't even remotely do that "real space" any justice. Hence it could as well be just something else.

The only situation when I want great, sort of realistic sounding reverbs would be when sitting in my home studio. And I can easily use plugins for that purpose and would never even think about using external hardware for that kinda thing.
