Starting to get the Klon thing?

I can’t give you the empirical evidence because it is based on experience. The reason I say try it is because in the room or playing it you would definitely agree. It’s not a small subjective difference. And I say try it yourself because I don’t think you should just take someone’s word for it.
Try it open minded and see what you think.

I kinda like a bit of "snobbiness" actually :bag:beer

Yeah, I wonder how many people got turned off to klons/klones because of the Soul Food. I have generally very positive feelings about EHX, but oh buddy, that was a turd.
I think that opinion depends a lot on what your thoughts were going into buying the Soul Food. I had no idea it was considered some sort of Klon clone. I didn't even really know what a Klon was or sounded like. I bought the pedal and made my decision based on the tones I was able to get out of it. I don't think it is a turd at all. I have found a few tones in it that I really like with both humbuckers and single coils. If your expectations were that you were getting a cheap Klon clone that was 100% accurate or you are a high gain player, I can see why you would think it is a turd.

I'm glad you were able to appreciate the pedal on its own terms and that you're enjoying it. For context, there were just years and years and years of hype around the Klon, and the scarcity and outrageous price meant that most guitarists had no way of trying one. So when EHX said they'd reverse engineered it, everybody bought one, and a lot of us were understandably mystified about the years of hype.

I've subsequently tried it as a Drive pedal. I had many I consider a lot better before I bought the KTR, and more since.

Glad you like yours!
