The ONLY pedal test I have seen that actually is representative . KLON and KLONE

Except the modeled version in HX, which I don't use.

While I usually prefer the Heir Apparent for such endeavours, I sometimes use the HX Klon to add some buzzy yet mellow kinda drive to clean amps. Also comes out as a rather flexible tone.
Same patch all throughout:

They are not. But they're still legitimate tone tools that sound great on their own. I kind of relate it to what some say about stacked single coils or blade singles -- "But they don't sound exactly like a real single coil, and they're humbucking but don't sound like full-sized humbuckers either."
Ok, fine - that's a fair point. But why do they need to sound like that, and why can't they stand on their own as a viable option?

This!
Add to this that you also get things you don't get with the originals. With pseudo-singlecoils you get humfree operation. With modeled stomp boxes you get saveability (plus some more options). For some people, these might be worth more than staying all authentic.

If you like it it’s valid but analog is different and if you don’t have a DAC in the chain it certainly isn’t worth adding one for this.

Maybe one day I'll try an actual, real Klon. It's like the Dumble of OD pedals, hyped to the point of being unaffordable! :hmm

So, where's all your "bigger tones", Mr. Eagle? Have we heard a single recorded tone coming from you, proving that you are the master of audiophile corksniffing? Rhetoric question because we obviously haven't.
Which is precisely why I will give this another half a year of a rest, likely more.

The Ceriatone Centura was a Covid impulse buy. I caved to curiosity but went in not expecting much. I’ve built too many dirt pedals to subscribe to magic.

It’s an interesting pedal. I wasn’t blown away at home. I did like it more at band volume. I do NOT like it AT ALL on clean sounds, particularly on Fender circuits. It gets a lot better as you move into EOB on the amps. I preferred it with Plexi and Mesa tones.

It’s an enormous pedal, so keep that in mind if you don’t have extra real estate on your board.
