Sonicake NAM Captures?

Tonex says "hold my beer"

Regardless of the wonky software, the Tonexes are pretty damn solid devices and onboard editing is just fine on the Tonex One in case all you need is the tonestack.

Because you want nice tones for practicing?

I doubt they'll turn out to be much better than the internal amps and you're giving away some "sweeteners" when loading captures as it seems.

I have absolutely no idea why anyone would even consider buying this outside of practising purposes or as a super-emergency backup. And because of that, I could as well not understand why NAM support would be relevant, especially given that you lose quite some other functions.
I mean, would anyone run a super cheap plastic device as the core of their pedalboard or so? A device that is super painful to be edited on-device?
This is not a gig worthy device by any strech of the imagination. I bought mine for travel. I have been using occasionally it for silent practice since getting it. If it wasn't for this thread, I would have had no idea it recently added NAM support. To my ears, the NAM profiles I have loaded sound better than the built in amps.

Thanks for all your contributions.

Leo Gibson inspired me to buy a Pocket Master and I'm very happy with it. I plan to have it as a backup. I was really surprised at the sound. He's really good. Compared to my Kemper, it is less dynamic, especially with clean and crunch tones. But in the band context, that's probably not really relevant to untrained ears.

Do you also have problems using the volume control on the guitar? It makes so much noise. Windows app V1.1.1 doesn't work on my Win11 pad and I can't install the Android app. It works perfectly under Win10. It's really exciting to use IRs and NAM rigs. But as already mentioned in a comment, the onboard models are really good too.

It's just fun to play with this little box.

I've received messages from some guys that use this as their main modeler. I personally wouldn't do that, but others have.

The Pocket Master sold out right after the NAMM announcement, so *somebody* is buying them.

Okay, it's a scam

This guy says "it doesn't sound exactly the same" but that's an oxymoron, it sounds line nam played thru a fuckin' 0.5" speaker

Once Leo does a null test, we'll see where it falls on the capture quality scale:

If it is doing what I'm guessing it is, then I'd expect it to fall somewhere around the Ampero.

Like they actually show up to a gig with it? I mean for a bedroom player sure I can see it as their main modeller, but I wouldn't gig with it. I started with Gorilla amp. I didn't gig with it, but at that time I wasn't ready for any gigging. :)

If you’re a one amp and some pedals player this seems like it’s just as useful as a Tonex One.

Yeah, that sounds nothing like the original capture.

Don't get me wrong, as $65 box being able to load captures at all is impressive, but it is NOT a NAM loader by any stretch.

Wtf? I mean, seriously, people round these parts will possibly know that I don't care much about authentic tones or whatsoever, but this has absolutely nothing to do with the capture played through the NAM player.
