SHOW OFF YOUR PEDALBOARD!

When I was in full loop switcher mode, my board was made so all the looper I/Os were below the actual pedal layer, so I was running straight/angled flat patch cables below the layer and could tie the cables up easily, even if they were a tad too long. In fact, once the double layer board was done, cabling has been easier than ever before.
The cool thing about the Voodoo Lab Dingbat board, is this switcher is designed to mount directly under the front lip of the board. So all of the connections are hidden and accessed from underneath. I only removed it because I was going to use it for another board but that never materialized.

IMO that's the only way to properly deal with any loop switcher board as none of the switchers I know of would allow for any kind of decent all-angled-jacks cabling.

Besides the short solderless connectors, there is a brand out there (can't remember atm) that makes the straight and short solder connectors. Those would be ok if you wanted everything visible on top.

I'd possibly still not do it because everything is just looking better with the cables running underneath.

My hypothetical pedalboard atm. Thinking of a w/d/w setup with this config... API after drives > line out into the VP4 then wet stereo outs to dual FR10 cabs. The API's instrument out into a tube amp/cab. May build a custom board or just combine 2 of these Dingbats as I have another one just like it. I have another Moog expression pedal too, so could use them with the VP4.

Interesting VOX boxes there. Theyre drives? Mystic Edge.... sounds so modest yet sexy

Yep, drives. Mystic Edge is the AC circuit thing, and probably my favorite of the Valvenergy line. It has such a sweet clarity and top end. The Cutting Edge is a take on American high gain. It's versatile and has more than enough distortion for my tastes. But these 2 drives could be easily swapped out for other pedals like the OD-3, TS9 or Copperhead.

Pedal Playground mockup of TK preamp board for use with MB Badlander combo and / or direct w/ MIDI control. Still waiting on the CB Brothers AM, so this is purely hypothetical at the moment. The empty space at the top-right of the board is where the main power switch + lamp reside on my 23" x 13" West Coast Pedalboard.

This will probably change many times while I wait for the Chase Bliss pedal to ship.

Two new pedals for me since last week.
I had a ditto, but I just hated the fact that it didn’t do RDP, so it had to go… researched long and well and the only tiny looper that could switch between RDP/RPD was this new EHX 360. Nice!

Next one is the Philosophers Tone Micro in the top right corner. Its very transparent and just makes everything sound better. The blend and treble knobs are the magic here alowing for hand/pick dynamics but still working to balance stuff behind my playing. It can do the squish thing also but I prefer it subtle. It’s super boring to turn it off… it’s always on! Wonderfull little compressor.

After the success of "Done: Or Am I...?" and "Done 2: Electric Boogaloo", last night saw the mancave-wide premiere of the long expected "Done 3: This Time For Real".

I replaced the Danelectro Eisenhower with a locally-sourced (go Hipsters!) top-notch craftsmanship DIY clone of the EQD Fuzz Master General (top right corner).

Tough fight between the two, but the FMG is a tad more versatile, has even less noise, AND takes the board one step closer to monochrome (again, hipster cred level-up) - we have a winner!

Cue "final boss" theme: a long A/B sit-in against the Helix Floor appears on the horizon.

Soon. 😂

Too soon! Here's "Done 4: What Was He Thinking?"

Have any of you ever heard about the T-Rex 8 Ball Dual Octave before? Yeah, me neither, until I posted the above pic of my "completed" board. Suddenly, one was listed locally (15 minutes from where I live) for 60€, and I started googling to check out what it was:

- polyphonic octave
- two WYSIWYG presets
- good reviews
- decent footprint
- limited/discontinued
- BLACK enclosure

Went and bought it. 🤷‍♂️

It nudged the POG 2 off board. I wasn't using all the bells and whistles (filter, attack, detune/chorus, etc.) anyway and kept switching between two alternating presets stored on odd/even slots, so the 8 Ball's simplicity came in handy.

Tracking is on par with the POG family. Feels like two Micro POG's in one box - although the dry mix is global.

This one is WAY under the radar, there's very few reviews online. Seems to have been a Thomann exklusive release back in 2018, along with other T-Rex 20th anniversary pedals.

Couldn't hold back, like at all. Two pedals and a cab, all within one week? Guess I gotta stop this for now... Please remind me the next time I'm raving about an "exciting" new pedal purchase. 😂😂😂

Here's a pic:
