SHOW OFF YOUR PEDALBOARD!

I had a really informative dm'ing with @newpedals , where she really shared some knowledge with me about different Boss distortions. I tried the DS2, the the DS1W and then the standard DS1. I thought the DS1 was the solution, but in the end I struggled (after playing it 2 weeks) to get low gain tones, that weren't "too grungy". One night I was browsing a bit drunk and ordered the Donner Morpher for 28€ (free shipping). It is... wow for that price. It's a cheap Suhr Riot clone and can do low classic rock to 90s "modern rock" (Drop D riffs) as well.

Bad thing is: Now I want a real Suhr Riot and they are a) not too cheap and b) not really availeable in Germany

Low gain/overdrives are the hardest damn thing, at least for me. I have the Barber Gain Changer since a while back, and it’s highly praised as a great overdrive for pushing amps and also for its own gain character into a clean amp, as a dirt pedal. But… there’s just something there I don’t get along with… it was the same with the Boss OD-3, a very good pedal to.

I struggle with the low gain OD’s and so far the ones I’ve liked most for adding a touch of dirt/compression is the Dod 250, Timmy and Barbershop (Fairfield Circuitry). All of which are fairly transparent and retain lows. My conclusion is that I like and prefer OD’s that doesn’t alter the EQ much. The struggle continues.

I might end up with a MXR Timmy.

I've found for my taste low gain ODs are really amp dependent. I love the Sweet Honey OD and the Honey Bee into a fender amp but find them kinda harsh into a Marshall. I prefer the Timmy into a fender too, love OD250 into a Marshall and don't really like it into a fender. That's why you need em all.

I am guessing that you will be using the 6 footswitches at the bottom to cycle through presets or something. Nice.
I use them for few different things, quicker access to presets being one of them. I was actually surprised how much you can do with just the three switches of the FM3 (my first Fractal) and I would definitely get by with only them. But it sure is nice to have certain things only one press of a switch away.

Had the board fired up tonight.

Top is the analog stuff I run into the front of the amps in mono. Side board, the digital stereo stuff run into fx loops.

The not yet boarded table-top-80’s-direct-to-interface setup:

Thinking about adding a GigRig Quartermaster and then finding a new hobby.
